Picking up new van (to me ... it is 07) on Wednesday - Burstner.

Can you tell me what BASIC questions I need to ask please, bearing in mind I don't understand anything technical... e.g. are the leisure batteries maintenance free, what power is the solar panel, etc etc. The current mh took me six years to learn the ins and outs so panicking a bit. No, that is a lie. I am panicking A LOT. :Eeek: Thank you. Joy x

check the video is what you need

Joy, they are the professionals, so let them take you through everything. Having met the dealer with you I think that they will go through everything thoroughly, and will be on hand afterwards to answer your questions after you have spent time in it.

You will not remember everything, but that is not a problem. You have a good warranty plus the protection of consumer law in the unlikely event of any serious problems.

The van is a good un, just enjoy it and STOP WORRYING.

Look upon the learning curve as an exciting time, not a problem time

YOU WILL BE FINE:thumb:

Don't panic Joy. We met at Shrewsbury. We have a Burstner and are very pleased with the quality. Feel free to pester John with any questions at the Northern rally. It looked a lovely van at Shrewsbury. I'm sure you've done the right thing.

Hello Joy, its a lovely van and your feelings are natural. Once you have been shown everything - which will be hard to remember (as has been mentioned use a video) then ask to spend time on your own in the van to familiarise yourself with your new home. Take your time and go over the van again taking as long as you like.

Best advice - stop worrying it is all part of the FUN and the adventure of a new van. :thumb:

Bring a 12 v charger with you and ask where it plugs in.

Sounds daft I know but my Burstner had German 12v fittings that don't work for UK.

Joy, do not worry about the 12v charger/plugs. Converters are readily available on eBay and it is not a problem at all.::bigsmile:

Beat me to it - was going to say I have a couple of DIN to cigaretter lighter adapters that I used in my Burstner.

Sure you'll love your new van - look forward to seeing it at Malvern.

advic e please

Best advice is to chat up the mechanic that worked on your van and get his phone number. Then you can ring him when you have a query. Worked for us and was very useful a couple of times. Salesmen only know how to sell.

Points

great list there Flatpack.
Two other points;

1. Check that the tyres are rated "CP" :Eeek:
This is after the numbers on the tyre wall Also that the spare is rated CP and not "C". C rated tyre on the same axle as a CP is illegal etc.:Eeek:
2. Tyre pressures
Good luck and let us all know how you get on

Don't worry Joy. Your adapter for the 12v sockets is in hand and will be ready for you at Malvern.

Your van is very similar to ours in the essentials so just drop me an e-mail or phone us if you have any questions before Malvern.

Thank you everybody for your help. I am much more relaxed now.

Poor Maggie (Chatter) has had to give me a crash course on different kinds of batteries, and what happens if they arn't compatible and how they affect the solar panel, etc etc etc. If any of you have any questions now just ask me......... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I also know that there are two types of cam belts and what to do if it isn't a chain one..... Boy, I am sooooooooooooooooooooo knowledgeable..

Thank you again everyone. I have printed Garry's list off to take with me.

Love Joy x
