We had a great weekend at the Waddington International Airshow last weekend, While there I noticed alot of motorhomes in the car park with people (families of four) standing and sitting on deck chairs on the roofs of their vans, Are they really strong enough for this? Not sure i would want to on mine.

i reckon four adults may be pushing your luck, but yes they are strong enough.

Only thing to be careful of is getting too close to any openings...sky lights etc.

The weakest part of a flat roof is near the edge...even if the edge is near the middle...ie roof lights etc.

Chairs should be stood on a piece of ply or similar to spread the weight of the legs.

I'm 107kg (17st) and regularly wandered about on our kontiki roof.

No qualms at all on our current RV.

While at T in The park music festival last year there was a hired mh next to us and the six male occupants had a BBQ on the roof while dancing.

Even when I clean mine I don't stand up I kneel down on a plank to spread the weight.

motorhomes are inherently stronger than caravans by design........

so standing on your roof should present no problems whatsoever....and this pic is for real, not a mock-up

In the small print of our Bessacarr MH E795 it says that there is a twelve and a half stone limit on a person on the roof ............. whoops!!!
