using 2 inverters? (1 Viewer)

As we have a rear lounge and a dinette up front can 2 inverters be used from the same batteries, we have 2x110a batteries (in the rear) along with a 85w solar panel?
I want to use a smaller 300w inverter in the rear lounge for mi fi modem charging (on all the time) toothbrush charging,tv and phone charging and a larger 1000 watt one in the kitchen for halogen oven(800 watt) low watt kettle (1000w)plus my 900 watt hairdryer at times

Others will have more knowledge than me on this but there's no reason why you can't use 2 inverters, perticularly the smaller one will be ok but the drain on the batteries will be significant, but more important you'll be struggling to run any of those big items on a 1000w inverter. My 2000w wouldn't power my 1450w coffee machine though it manages a 900w kettle with no problem. I have 2 115ah batteries and a 1300w solar panel but I was told inverters work only at 70/75% max output soooo..... :Sad:

A word of warning.

1000W at 12V is 83A.

At that current your 100Ah battery is derated to something like half and you only use 50% anyway which equals 25Ah, so that 100Ah battery will last 20 mins.

If you want 1000W of heat gas is the better way.

I reckon you could use two inverters if you wanted...

But over the years I have switched almost totally to 12 volt living.

For example... my Vodafone mi-fi thingy and my phone charge through the mini USB connection which I plug into a ciggy lighter thingy (Chinese shops) which converts 12 volts to 5 volts.

The Kindle and water proof video camera also charge this way.

It makes little sense to me to take twelve volts dc and convert it to 240 volts AC just to convert it again back to DC again.

Many of the mains chargers you use in the house convert into 12 volts DC which we motorhomers already have on tap.

Of course I don't use an electric oven or kettle in the van, I use gas and my hair is worn so short Wink that it doesn't need a hair dryer...

Only if you attempt to connect the two outputs together, which would be pretty disastrous.

You would not connect the two 240V outputs together, that would go BANG.

But an interesting scenario if a laptop on one was connected to a remote monitor on the other. I'm 99.99% sure there would be no problem because most gadgets have a power supply that completely isolates the mains in terms of voltage and frequency but I'm not brave enough to say that 0.01% isn't waiting in the wings.
