You say "when transferring to a laptop"
Try a search for all files and pics for a name or number of one of the pictures , you may find them all.
Go to recent places on the laptop, may be listed in there!

Do you have two files, "Pictures" and a "photo gallery"

Mine loads to photo gallery first.

Good luck

External devices like USB sticks and memory cards don't normally send deleted files to the recycle bin.

However, as ShiftZZ suggests, you might still be able to recover the files, because what's been deleted is not the files themselves, but the index file that says where they are. Your computer thinks the SD card is blank, but the files are still there, provided you've not re-formatted it or added new files to it.

The software I found most handy was at www.recovermyfiles.com - you download and try out the trial package, and if it finds the missing files you pay for an activation code that gives you use of the software from then on.

Of course there's others, and maybe some free ones, but generally speaking you get what you pay for in this life.

Next time, take your laptop in your camper and back your bloody pics up regularly

Sd card recovery

Do a google search for sd card recovery install it on your PC insert your sd card in your reader and click on the drive and do a full scan and you will be surprised how much data it will recover

As others have posted, there a a number of good data recovery programmes around, they will almost certainly get your pics back. HOWEVER, do not use the card to take anymore pics, until you have recovered them. Any new photos taken before recovery will overwrite the originals.

started in a minivan 1970's when I could fit into it.
I,ve used getdataback in the past recovering formatted and even fdisked drives on fat and ntfs.I just tried it out on an sd card and it recovered deleted files.here is a link to download the trial version:
http://www.runtime.org/data-recovery-software.htm
you,ll need the fat32 version. If it finds files you need to select them all and copy to a folder in your main hard drive not your sd card(as stated previously)It will offer you a choice to buy the software at this point.
fiingers crossed.

You said you'd transferred them to the laptop before deleting them. What made you think you'd transferred them, as in where did they go? Has the default destination folder been changed?

If you have a different SD card, put it in the camera and take a pic, then find out what its number is. That way you'll know the numbers of earlier pics.

My Fuji used to prefix the numbers with DSCF - does yours?

Imagine the new pic is image 8079 - you'll know that the last previous image was 8078, and that image 8000 was probably a holiday pic.

Go back to your laptop, and with the C Drive selected (not a specific folder) do a full search (top right corner) for

*8000* or *8000.jpg or *8000.JPG

just to see if they transferred to somewhere odd like a system folder before you deleted them.

That sounds an excellent bit of logic, hope it works:thumb:

Still making mistakes! But they're not as costly.
I'm really pleased that site worked. :thumb: It was recommended to me by a photographer friend who had to use it once. I hope I never have to.

Glad it worked for you.
That's the best £27 you'll ever spend to keep her happy, but she will remind you of your carelessness often..................
