Also spotted this at the Crick Boat show, chap was sharing it with SWMBO:Smile:

Whole thing was held on with ratchet straps whilst driving:Eeek:

SWMBO is the acronym for She Who Must Be Obeyed from the book SHE by Ryder Haggard.

The base vehicle might not have started out as 'unusual'.... but I think you'll all agree the paint job fits the bill!!

many many years! since I was a kid
it used to be quite a common sight to see an older coachbuilt camper body lifted off its original older vehicle and grafted onto a newer base vehicle. I remember years ago helping my uncle move one from an old rotten bedford CF onto a newer ford transit. the transit had previously had a box body on it so had the neccesary chassis length. he also had to cut off the back of the cab and part of the roof to allow a walk through. No idea if you would get away with it these days and get it through an MOT etc. All I know is he sold it on at a good profit a couple of years later

Saw this one at Rhoedes harbour, Greece a few years ago. It was the type of van were you wiped your feet coming out:Smile::Smile:

Just goes to show John, you don't have to spend a fortune on a motorhome to see the world. You only need the adventure spirit and the price of fuel. I have seen converted fire engines, ambulances, caravan bodies stuck on old trucks, old buses, and just about everything else in some of the remote parts of the world. The people that travel in these odd ball campers are doing what many others only dream about. They have no interest in what others think about there mode of transport. Just as a point of interest am now in the midst of planning a wild adventure that I have been dreaming about for some time now in a bus conversion.
