Does anyone know or have any info on the 150 vs 130 multijet engine ?

Wondering if the difference is really that noticeable and what the benefits are.

:thanks2:

About 20 horse.......:winky::winky:

If I had the choice I would have the 150..... more horses, more relaxed driving and cruising..

negligible difference, if not actually better, mpg with the 150......:thumb::thumb:

Thanks Callum.

Was surprised to see so many bhp options and even engine sizes although I suspect some needs stem from the commercial chassis world with increased payloads etc

It looks like has quite a bit more torque which would be useful although the regular 130 doesn't seem to be missing this

We have a Mohawk with the 150hp upgrade previous van was an AT Tracker with 130 engine the difference in power and torque delivery is very noticeable. Mohawk is 4250kg but far more sprightly, less gear changing and much more of a pleasure to drive not really run in yet at 1400 miles but mpg seems better averaging 24/25. Power delivery is so much smoother tend to find myself travelling a bit faster.

So in answer to OP yes the is a big big improvement and if buying anther MH would defo go for the upgrade. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Isn't the 150 just the 130 with an engine "tweak" ?? ie a re-map..

On my old 2.8jtd I had a remap and that added 20+bhp and was a lot better for puling power and torque. MPG seemed to remain the same..

I have a 130 model, Jan 2012 Euro5 and will consider the re-map soon. Didn't want to have it done to soon until I had a bit of time and miles under it's belt.

So far done 13,000 miles and It's coming in at 26.5mpg based on the whole mileage.
It's the Apache 700 with overhead cab and gross of 4250kg.. I run around the 4000kg mark most of the time, dont plod but dont race to much either.... 60 ish on motorways and limits on other roads..

If it's of any interest we get 30/31 mpg with the 130 engine hauling a 3500kg van and find the performance perfectly adequate. (last tankful actually gave 31.75mpg)

Hi

We had a 2008 Kontiki, 3 litre, 157 bhp. It was a low line model.

The 2012 model and the present one are Kontikis again, but this time high line with a Luton bunk. Both had/have the 3 litre 180 bhp engine.

The 180 gave better mpg, even though it was high line vice low line and was better at holding 6th gear on long motorway hills - such as j21 - 22 of the M62.

I know this engine is not what you are asking about, but my thoughts are the more bhp the better!

That's my understanding and the factory 20bhp is a lot more than an after market black box.....

Look at the tech specs for the 130 v the 150
You are getting a variable geometry turbo charger with the 150 plus it shows some nice power curves compared to the 130 :thumb:

Thanks for that, sounds like a VGT will reduce any lag that you do feel on the 130's at lower speeds.

Hi Top
Exp
I'm a Newbie
The 150 has a Variable geometry turbocharger as opposed to presumably an ordinary one on the 130! When I bought my Rollerteam I went for the 150 so that I could benefit from this setup without the need to remap a 130, which is what the salesman at Davan was suggesting, a remap was going to be about £500 the 150 engine £1080. I also specified a plate of 3650Kg so the extra power would be useful for the potential heavier load.

Hope this help

Isn't the larger engine also heavier? If so, you have to take that into consideration as it will obviously reduce the payload so if you are looking to get a van which is already low on payload it could make a lot of difference! Also, depending on what engine you currently have you may, or may not, notice much difference anyway.

We currently have a 2012 Autocruise Accent PVC on the Fiat X250 with the 2.3 130bhp engine, prior to that we had a 2010 Chausson Flash 04 on a Ford Transit 2.2 140 bhp engine. The Ford certainly was more spritely so we have also been considering having the Fiat 'chipped' rather than have a re-map, but at present we're going to see if it improves with usage as it only has around 7,300 on at the moment. Oh, we're currently getting just under 30 mpg and we don't 'spare the horses' and like twisty mountain roads!

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
130 bhp

We have just swapped our remapped 3ltr Arapaho for a new Apache with the 2.3ltr 130 bhp engine.
When I drove out of the dealership I got the shock of my life at just how much less powerful the 2.3ltr engine was.
After doing 1000 miles in it now I will definitely be getting it remapped, fuel consumption has also surprised me, over 2000 miles the Arapaho averaged 27.4mpg. on 1000 miles the Apache shows a disappointing 24.2 mpg.

Well I can now comment on both engines as we did take the 150 Ducato instead of the 130 which was the same as what we already had. Have now covered 3000kms in it since collecting it 4wks ago so feel that now is a good time to give some feedback.

Firstly it's fair to say that the new van is heavier although not by much and the added equipment is th same although fresh water tank and diesel tank on the new one are smaller.

My overall feeling is that you do not need to change down as often with he 150 and therefore you can stay in 4th or 5th that bit longer. Acceleration seems to be abou he same and I guess that gearbox is the same anyway. It does pull very well and havin just gone over the Alps 4 times in these last weeks I could feel some difference there. Economy is down for me on the 150 although I do question the accuracy of the gauges etc, are they really that good ??? If they are then the 130 was more economical although this could be more down to the recent routes I've used and driver style as this does have a big impact.

There It is, more pulling power, less gear changes and perhaps less economy.
