Since Nov 2010 after 25 yrs under canvas.
Last week we, by accident went to Brownhills, Newark.

Saw a Frankia i640 - a dream of an A class top notch motorhome which really seems to tick all the boxes.

We are looking for a van which has luxury for 2 but is not too big (6.5m being max) - this does it.

This is a new design and not yet reviewd by anyone. It costs about 85K and is therefore well beyonfd our courrent budget.

The question ......

If I had the money would this be a good buy or just a selfish indulgance?

When your budget and the cost of the one you desire match, then go for it, we did and never regret it. :thumb:

If you did not need the 85K for anything else then I would say its okay
And do not think of it as 85K gone, although there will be depreciation its still gonna be worth something when you have finished with it
What I will say is very expensive vans like this seem to drop in price the fastest

If it's what you want and you can afford it, go for it. You never know what tomorrow is going to bring.
We've had our Frankia 10 years and have no desire to change it.

No madder than the dream many of us have Saturday evening, only to be dashed by the wrong numbers coming up.
The daft thing is we don't do the Lottery.
Still, doesn't stop you dreaming, all the same.

It does look nice though. Some video here.

If that's the same one I saw, did it not have sofas that turn into a bed? We love our van, but the bedmaking, after a year's ownership, has become a real ballbreaker! I'm not sure I could spend £85k on a van with the same design, no matter how good the other bells and whistles.

There aren't any pockets in a shroud. I would spend it if I had it and bloody well enjoy the short time I am on this planet. ::bigsmile:

Manxcat, fancy showing me that! I am now burdened with your dream! I think this is the first I've seen that would tempt me to part with our Eura Mobil
(If I had a spare £85k, of course:winky:)

That does sound like the same van. The bed is in the roof and descends over the lounge. I thought that the bed could be made up ready to use. Are you saying this cant be done? If so then you are right - not a van for us.

The van we have has a bed in the roof wich is similar - obviously not as sophisticated - but we have that one made up.

No, my mistake - after checking the photo, the one we were looking at was a low profile, not an A-class. The 'bed in the roof' could indeed be left made up!

many many years! since I was a kid
personally I would wait a year or so and save £20k plus the first owner would of ironed out any teething issues with the new model.

if you can afford the £85k and massive depreciation, then go for it. most of us worked very hard to make the money to enjoy this lifestyle and I for one couldn't justify losing so much in 2 years
