Highest mileage ever.

that quoted mileage is only average. There are HGV's that do in excess of that. A company that I worked for would only scrap an engine if the crankshaft was u/s. They would be fitted with liners and pistons and have the heads reconditioned. I,ve known cab floors to be strengthened with 3x2 timber to get them through mot tests. Most of the fleet had Eaton twin split gearboxes, the best ever.

This must have been converted from a former service bus. If its the chap I'm thinking of,he converted a larger coach some 20 years ago and toured over Europe as far as Turkey.

I knew a couple of BMW motorbikes that had well over a million miles on them, owned by London based Couriers. They were immaculate, but not sure how much of a triggers broom they were. The bikes tyre bill for half decent tyres on a million miles must be well over £40k :Eeek:

High Mileage

Trunk wagons will average 3500 miles a week so in a year you are looking at 175000miles plus. There will be many haulage companies running wagons that have done in excess of a million miles and still going strong pushing 2 million. Owning a motorhome with very low mileage isn't doing the engine any favours, it needs to be run on a regular basis.

I have noticed with sales that the mileages seem to be 'made -up' if you check both google and ebay, you will see many traders are just putting random numbers in for mileage - no idea why as it would put sellers that are just glancing right off!

Highest vehicle I ever owned was a nissan patrol y260 with 576,000 and was sold on with that mileage. As far as I am aware, it is still going strong 7 years on.

i worked for a company and drove to birmingham and back every day .the next driver jumped in and repeated the trip .
we hardly ever switched the motor off .one out one in . averaged about 500miles each .so 1000ml a day . truck was worked 6 days a week so soon knocked up a million miles .
yet they were the cleanest trucks i ever drove . after every trip you drove through a truck wash then handed the truck over to the next driver .
