I have a Smart car trailer produced by Bantamtrailer, the company that used to advertise as "The Original Smart Car Trailer". This is not the company that trades as Brian James Smart Car Trailers or The Smart Car Trailer company. The original company was on an old airfield (noted for racing Nortons) near the A43 in Northamptonshire then moved to Aylesbury.
I need new brake cables for this trailer and on contacting the company the website is no longer available. The original builder went out of business and the trailers were being built by another company at Northampton. They used the original website address, so have they also gone out of business?
The trailer is Aluminium with Alko hitch. The running gear has an Alko sticker on it.
Does anyone know where I can get parts to fit this trailer.
The trailer was left standing last winter and moved OK. I loaded the car up and towed without problems. When I took the car off and unhitched the trailer would go back but not forward. The NS brake was stuck on. It freed up when the end was hit but stuck as soon as the brake was applied. I sprayed it repeatedly and got it free enough to use. It is in the garage today and they tell me the cable has rusted and I need a new one. No part numbers on the cable.

bowden cables are pretty much universal and you buy them by length from any trailer specialist or some motor factors

Thanks TheBig1

I have found cables on .

Cables for Alko products come in 10 lengths.

I posted on another forum and the guy who built the trailer was posting there.

I am the owner of the "Bantam Trailers" registered trademark.
Production has ceased for the foreseeable future whilst I convalesce after a cancer operation, and I plan to purchase another motorhome in the next few weeks, whilst I consider my possible ??? return to production, or look at an alternate income stream, possibly from property development.

I have PMd him and asked for the correct cable length as I have not had a reply from the garage about the cable length.
