We parked on the cliff tops at Bologne last night, a real good aire if you are not familiar with it,

The picture shows the waves coming over the harbour wall last night as it was blowing a hoolie, so much so we had to lower our sat. dish and the van rocked us gently to sleep.

Boy were we glad we were booked to come under the channel today and not sail across it

We had a smooth crossing a couple of weeks ago on the boat.

But the best thing about the tunnel it only goes up and down once :thumb::thumb:

When I was a kid back in the 60s we crossed the channel in a Force 8 Gale on one of the old Free Enterprise ferries. No-one in our family got seasick so we were the only family in the restaurant for a meal. The stacks of plates on the buffet were toppling onto the floor, the waiters were falling over, and our soup was slopping over the edge of the dishes with each roll of the ship.

When I went for a wee I couldn't get near the urinal for puking passengers. I finally found a gap and I remember this green-faced bloke muttering 'Be as quick as you can son".

It took forever to moor the ferry at Calais because it was so choppy in the dock.

No crossing I've experienced since has been as rough as that one was.

Well I went down to the sea in Sagres, Portugal last night and it was blowing so strong that every wild camper with a dish had it wound down tight.

One of them had been there so long it had grass growing up through the wheel arches.

Not sure about all of it but certainly saw signs banning campervans down there.

They have made a big aire at the top of the hill with nice views back to the harbour and town at 5 euros per night but 3 euros to get any water from the bourne---very handy though at about 24Km from the chunnel

How did you pay , as I said no one came for any money while we were there but it was a bit out of season, and yeah real nice place good views and plenty of secluded sites, and the folks in the bar were very friendly, there was an English football match on when we were there and they turned the tele over for us to watch it:Smile:
