Sorry folks, I meant the Inner Hebrides version not France (although I have spent many happy times in the French Jura).

We have just come back from Jura and we stayed in a truly beautiful place. As there is only one road, you should not get lost.Take the ferry over from Islay (which is the only way) then follow the road past the distillery and through the village (Craighouse). In about three miles you will see a parking area for Corran Sands. You can drive along the edge of the beach on a flat grass verge. No one will disturb you. There is a public toilet at the harbour in Craighouse and also at the ferry.

Jura free camping

It is quite a few years since we were on Jura but at that time there was no camp site so we ended up staying for three nights on the edge of the old runway with beautiful views out to sea. We asked at the first village shop we saw and they directed us.

At that time a new Ferry had replaced the old one for the trip from Islay to Jura, problem was the designer had got the ramp wrong and on trip there and back on Jura side they filled the 'V' with tyres and coils of rope, SWMBO abandoned ship and left me all on my own. All part of the 'adventure' and I am sure that will not be the case now. ....Jacobus.
