I had to remove my hob to fix a gas leak and found that the rubbery gasket around the hob was covered in that icky, hard to remove, dried on kitchen grease.
After trying a number of products and methods ineffectually, I popped the whole gasket in a clean milk flagon with some sugar soap and some hot water.
After some vigorous shaking and then leaving it to stand for a while, I took it out and rinsed it and apart from a couple of spots that rubbed off easily, it came out squeaky clean, literally.
