Ok guys, daughter has now got her new Lenovo. What's the best antivirus software, preferably free. Any recommendations?

I use Microsoft Security Essentials, better than the costly Norton, Malware Bytes and Adware Plus, all free. Sometimes Spybot Search and Destroy finds things that the others don't.

Agreed with Microsoft Security Essentials, the question has been asked many times before on this Forum and Essentials always got a good review.:thumb:

Still only a year after many years camping
I've used AVG Free for years & can't fault it.

Also download CCleaner & run it evry so often - it helps to stop the rubbish building up:thumb:

AVG FREE is very good. When downloading and installing be sure to keep following the 'free' route. Don't let it lure you to the paid version.

I've used avast on all our machines since being advised to use it by a friend who is a computer manager for a major corporation. Been very good so far (about 3 years).

I've had the AVG free and CC Cleaner option for a while on my laptops, desktops and mobile phones... seems to work well enough and I'm not aware of having had any problems.

My latest notebook seemed to point me towards Microsoft Security Essentials however, which I have used since Christmas with no problems so far.

Over the years I have tried Norton a couple of times but it has always seemed to really restrict my browsing and slow everything down so I have ended up binning it!

I do this for a living. Recently moved away from Windows totally but when I was using it I swore by MS Internet Essentials and recommended it to all my clients. Never had a complaint.

Thanks guys, she's now downloaded MS Essentials, its what I use, but she may go on some dodgy sites and I wasn't sure it was up to it. She's now sitting their twiddling her thumbs while Adobe Creative suit downloads, only 6 and a bit gig.::bigsmile: And she's going to pay for it.:whatthe:

Haven't had a play with the Lenovo but looking over her shoulder I did notice the boot time, maybe 10secs or less, very impressive, its that ssd, it makes all the difference.
