Just bought one of these.....

Took it out of the box, placed it on the gas hob, slice of bread on top, turn on.........

Bingo:Smile: perfect toast 20 secs later :thumb:

Be warned it works so fast you need to watch the bread like a hawk :winky:

::bigsmile:

I bought one of those too!

I got mine from the ladies who sell the double skillet at shows.

I am planning on trying thicker metal gauze on the bottom in order to spread the "browning" effect more slowly and evenly...

Ah, talking about the Double Skillet I look forward to trying that out next week (hoping my order arrives by then)

As for the toaster I was surprised by the speed, I would say 10 seconds or so per side :whatthe:

Those toasters are so good we even use one at home now. The outside of the bread is toasted but the inside is still soft. Just how I like it. The only problem I have found is the wire mesh burns out after a while.

We had that one for a while, it does a good job:thumb: We bought one of these though, its just as good and you can do more than one at a time, infact we can do four at once with a bit of jufggling:thumb: The diffuser is excellent and the toast is always evenly cooked

We have used the Gelert version for a while but the one you have Jim looks much better - where did you get it?

We are now on our third one of the type Chockers' has bought.. They are worked really hard as we both eat a lot of toast

After the 2nd one died we tried one of the type that Jim uses.. Sorry to say we gave it away after a few uses and bought another of the chockers type !

Must be why it's showing out of stock now:Doh:

Bought one of the crappy triangle shaped ones last year, guess what, it's crap:cry:

Will order one of these as I like nice toast. Do you think they will ship these with free Marmite ?

We have a couple of the folding Gelert type and they do work very well indeed. If anyone is thinking of getting something to use on the hob top though do NOT under any circumstances get one of the pyramid ones like the below - they are totally useless!

We have used one of the folding Gelert ones for years, but now use it with the defuser we got with the double skillet - more controllable.

I tried 2 different types of these. No idea of make/model anymore and found them to be useless (probably me)

I now use a blow torch. Nice a fast and browned to perfection :ROFLMAO:

The gelert one works well but is very fragile.

Just got one like Jim's and it is much more robust.

Only downside is the toast takes much longer to do than it did on the gelert!

I was looking to buy a replacement for the GELERT FOLDING CAMPING TOASTER

I looked on the Double skillet site and found them advertised at £5 plus £5 p&p. I wanted two and was shocked to find the total was £20.

John

If you had paid more attention in your maths lesson you would have only been anoyed and not shocked:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I was shocked at the amount of postage they were charging. No reduction for two in one packet. When I did maths at O level I got an F and H

Great bit of kit, Jim. No doubt about it.
Sian told Pauline how good they are so she bought one.
I then reminded her WE HAVE A BLOODY GRILL!:ROFLMAO:
