Trying to trace my Grandfatheris a nightmare. My Dad never knew his father but the name stuck in his head all his life although he was brought up by a step father. It turned out his step father threw away any notes and photos his Mum had.We have got as far as finding 1 person with this name and he was a flight sgt with Polish 300 squadron and flew Lancasters. He aws killed in jan 1946 and there are far to many coincidence for it not to be him.Trouble is we cant find ant more and have hit a brick wall.I would be grateful if any Funsters know of any links where as to look. The clock is ticking and i would love to gather as much as i could, even go as far as finding relatives and asking if i could dna to prove a connection.Any ideas are most welcome.

An enquiry with the Commonwealth War Graves Commision (www.cwgc.org) may give some indication of a grave site or service number and sometimes Next of Kin, which could be useful information for future enquiries.

Thanks for taking the time to research,we seem to have taken all the same routes, the crazy thing is he survived the war and it seems he was killed on a training flight.

As far as we know,Janine found birth date but no death record so could still be with us?

Records show Mothers maiden name as Rowan and not Knutzen?

Ok

But Wladislaw B Robaszewski married Isabella Knutsen in 1944, the 'son' may not be theirs.

Polish records are not available online as far as I know and even if thery were I would struggle...

Hope this helps

There are truely some great researchers on here and I wonder if any can help me progress one of my great grandfathers family. I have all the decendants no problem but nothing on himself other than cencus records, not a marriage or death certificate or anything on his family so here we go

Peter Snocken born 1864 antwerp Belgium.
Married? Eliza Digby born 1864
he shows up in the 1891 census but not the 1881

Peter Henry Snoeken his 1st born 11 Sept 1885 address 7 Exmouth Street, Mile End Old Town Western, on his birth certificate the surname appears to be spelt Snoeken, by the time Stanley (second son) was born the spelling had changed and the "e" became a "c"
By 1887 when Stanley was born the family had moved to 58 Martha Street.(from birth cert)
In the 1891 census the address given is 24 Exmouth Street, Mile End Old Town.
In 1901 still a Cigar maker living at 51 Ely Terrace (from 1901 census)
In 1906 his occupation was still a Cigar Maker Journeyman. (from Henry's birth cert)
The family still living at 51 Ely Terrace, Bow before Henry was born in 1906 (from birth cert)
That is all I know of him, he disappeared one day never to be seen again, did he become a vagrent or go back to Belgium we don't know. I have been searching for 20 years and obviously hit a brick wall can anyone progress it from there?
The name Snoeken in antwerp is all the one family descended from a common root. But I cannot get it back far enough to link for definate.
