Not towed it yet but have everything ready.

Mine is a Piaggio MP3, but only a `Trike`(as in can`t fall over), when it`s standing still. Quirk in the law, means you can ride it on a car license, which is ideal for me.

Hi Peter, I have an FX5, which I usually put in a "Pod" trailer..

But because my new to me RV is heavier than my last, I have a weight issue with the car and Trike in the trailer, hence my question...

Dont really want to drag it on the wheels but it`s the only way...

Be good to see some photo`s of your set up. Thanks.. :thumb:

Forgot to say I have a RoRo trailer.

Looked at a few but chose the RoRo because it can be tipped on it`s side and it breaks down to 6 parts for winter storage.

You can also ride it on. had to have two extra channels added to the standard set-up.

This could spark an "A" frame type debate about brakes working, towing with a recovery type "ambulance" etc. :hardhat:

Billy Connelly had one behind a Land Rover,on one of his docs. It held the front wheel,I think it was made by a Bristol firm,I don't know who.

That trailer of yours is magnificent but getting under half the weight surely can't be hard. Much better than giving the trike a hard time towing on the road I would have thought.

Or....................

Or you nip out and get a bigger RV with a proper garage, you know it makes sense. And so coooooooooowelllll when you turn up on site and out pops the transport. We saw a euro MH in Rome with little FIAT in the back. Were we jealous, of course not..............

Tis a fine trailer Brian...... But way to heavy, comes out at an all up of 2,600 KG.... Off the top of my head, you can put a car of around 1.6 tons in it...

Iv`e got about 800 KG to play with... I can get a trailer built from a firm in Barnstable... Which brings me just on my limit,,, but its getting it built and the time factor at the moment...

My "Pod" would look nice on the back of your M/Home.... :winky::thumb:

Hi Mo as you know i have a harley trike and for me the only way to transport it is on a box trailer:winky:for me it would get to knocked about being towed, with all the rain and dirt and debris being thrown up from the towing vechicle.you know Mo that trikes are not cheap and they need to be looked after so for me it definately a covered trailer:thumb:

Yamaha XJ 1100 trike and Comanche brisa trailer tent
Elaine and I did miles with this outfit festivals gigs and holidays all over uk
trailer weighs more than trike and no brakes never had a problem
if plod had pulled us I would have got locked up but hi ho who cares we have some fond memory's and made some good friends
trike is still in garage and who know I might just put it back on road
bloody things too fast I bottled out at 120

and down Avon park drag strip in 12 seconds mind you I was drunk I think It would do 10.5 sober but never had bottle to try
  • no brakes no ce over weight over length over width over everything
  • tested legal though with VOSA inspection
and yes I did build my self when I get home I will put some more of my daft ideas on

11yrs, but many years a tugger.
Brian is right VeryOldMoMan. When I "A" framed our little car and the weather was bad, it would get into a very serious state. So much so, that you could not see out of the windscreen for the muck, which had loads of tiny stones stuck to it, so no using the wash/wiper. Once, No.2 son had to guide me to a hose pipe as the only way was to drive it slowly, I might add, with my head stuck out of a side window. :Eeek:

Imagine that all over your beautiful trike. :shout:

The law is very simple irrespective of weight if wheels that touch the road have brakes fitted they must work. An ambulance is only legal for use by licenced recovery services and at very low speeds.

BIG grin !

Brilliant.

Though I have to say I'm not a trike fan, leaning and lane splitting is what biking is about. I've never been on/in one so that doesn't help.

I had one go on a sidecar outfit, my uncle had a garage, "will you deliver this". So when I pulled it out of the hedge, undamaged, I started to take it seriously. I did drive right through Manchester and got it there intact even if it had a few extra leaves. And when he took it in PX it actually had a caravan in tow. Luckily the little caravan had been sold or I'd really have been in trouble. It was a 650 bonnie. I thought amazingly fast at the time.
