So, I have agreed to PX my motorhome and pick the new one up in April.
I have just noticed a crack in the windscreen of the old one. My head says I should ignore and see if it is noticed by the Dealer on exchange but my heart says I should get the Windscreen replaced on insurance before I PX it.
What would you do?

Whilst its insured by you get it done although may cost you the excess.
The dealer would not be insured so will cost him and if noticed could affect your deal
Good for after sales relations as well

All part exchanges would be subject to inspection at time of handover so it is best to get it done to save possible problems later.

I have the same problem except my handover is due this Saturday and I have just rung the Insurance company today. Waiting for a call back from Autoglass. What are the chances they will be able to get it replaced before the weekend do you think?

ahh the joys of windscreens.
i would say autoglass may stock the standard fiat / merc / ford screens but i doubt they will have the specialised A class ones in stock.

They have just called me and asked for measurements and part numbers so I think they are having to get one from somewhere else......

Not much chance I reckon.

Our A class screen had to be flown in from Germany. Took about 3 weeks I think.

Thanks Treacle - looks like I might be waiting a couple of weeks longer before I get my new toy then. I dont think the Dealer will take it and wait for the screen to be fitted before he can sell it, but I might try - Mrs Colpot is desperate to get the next motorhome on the drive.

I am fairly sure I have read in the last couple of weeks that Hambiltons Eng. Preston 01772 315078 carry a good stock of Hymer windowscreens. Could be worth a phone call.

I think it would be better to change the screen, either do it the day before you p/x or explain to your insurance company it happened on the way to collect your new vehicle.

Yes they do supply, for others to fit, ie Aotoglass etc.

I told Autoglass that my dealer in Norfolk had one in stock but for some reason that I couldn't fathom they had one flown into Gatwick:Doh:

Autoglass are coming on Thursday to fit ours - I did tell them Hambiltons had one in stock but I dont know whether they got it from there. I feel its the right thing to do to get it fixed.
