Is this a scam ? Or bargain I personaly think it's a scam simply on pricing, not very good English and no feedback over the last 6mths or so.It could well be a hijack on someones account what do you think?

At approximately 50% of what that van is worth this is a deffo scam.

And why would someone go from selling the usual odds and sods from their garage to placing a classified ad?

eBay could stop this overnight if they only allowed traders with an eBay shop to place classified ads.

A high mileage 08 Sprinter is worth about £6000, so IMHO, I don't think this is particularly cheap.

Race vans are a limited market and don't command high prices, the same as PVC motor homes do.

Like Jaws I ain't convinced this is a scam, and as a Motor Trader (though not dealing with commercials) I'm not convinced this is silly cheap, fairly good value maybe........

I say agian pretty sure it's a scam --nice conversion ,not usual shed and about price of van plus bits.No converters proffit if not scam then somebodys working for nothing

I'm with you Terry, it must be a scam simply because there is another Sprinter based race-van , 10 years older on auction with a starting price of £4600 and another 2002 one on classified at £8250. This one is 2008 so must be a scam.

Darrell sold his 6 year old long wheelbase converted Merc about two years ago for £4500

This was a full, professional, race conversion with a two berth front end, wind out awning, even went with 'garage floor' for use under the awning
Originally he had it up for £10k.. after months of trying to sell it as sensible money he gave up and let it go for £4.5 K as said..

Cannot understand how it can be a scam if you pay for it when you collect it ? ( or am I misreading it ?? )

Hi John, if you can pay on collection It could well be a way around for the scammers. I.E. you cannot veiw it but if you pay via paypal etc, I will arrange delivery Until someone gets in touch and they agree to view or get the scam bit I would be warey.
It could well be someone looking for a sale /wanting rid hence my question scam or not

18 months ago when I was looking for a 'new' MH I reported loads back to Ebay.

When I checked some of them for 'other items' some were also doing the same scam on tractors and other plant.

I believe they also try the scam with 'classic' cars and motorbikes.

If Ebay does nothing about these scammers people will lose interest in buying high value items through Ebay.:Angry:

Having said that - if it seems too good to be true it probably is......always view any large purchase and be wary of sellers with no feedback who have only just registered with Ebay

Hi again just done a rough calculation and there is around 6ks worth of goods in the conversion plus the van at around 6k so that's a total spend of 12k ish ---Someone is loosing money big time

So I sent a message to one selling a 2010 van for 5.4k asking how I pay for it.

The scammers will get pi**ed off soon and give up.

It must be costing quite a bit to keep posting them for sale.

I think 15 today Lesley -- not sure if they pay or scam the classifieds but if they pay :thumb: again not sure how much a classified is but if similar price to AT then around 30 quid a time so if they do pay £450
edit even if it's only a tenner that's still £150

I doubt they pay a penny, probably use someones cloned credit/debit card, and for the hijacked accounts, I suppose the real member pays initially and then gets credit when they notify Ebay.
