I have ordered one and will get rid of my loose collection of tools.

They are being advertised elsewhere on ebay for as high as £300 so £74 seems a good bargain to me?

I have loads of pro tools but they are all in individual boxes stacked in the back of my van. It is a pain because the one I want is usually all the way at the back. When I just want a screwdriver or a pair of plier it is a pain.

I will put all the pro tools stacked in the back of the cupboard and have this at the front. I can then just yank this out for the vast majority of those little annoying jobs and only pull out the specialised ones when I need them.

For instanced I have 4 sets of allen keys. One normal set, one extra long set, one tiny set and one supersize set. That is just the allen keys. 3 different sockets sets.... 4 different bit sets. The list goes on and on.

This is perfect for the vast majority of the DIY jobs that crop up when you are fulltimer. Thought it might also suite those of you who do the long european trips..

I liked it because of the wheeled box it comes with. I have had to drag my tools some distance in the past and this will just make it easier:thumb:

I certainly wouldn't buy a set of these if I was using the tools day in day out. But for DIY maintenance of vans it looks good. I will report back if anyone is interested once it arrives.

Whenever I buy a tool kit like that its normally the case that's cheap as chips and is the first thing to fail, rendering the tools to become spread over 10 acres. If the case is Robust Karl, let me know I might be tempted:thumb:

I use Snap-on or Halfords professional, sometimes Rolson, however, as has been said, for the occasional job on the MH, they dont look too bad. Check his feedback and any comments. Ive made my own set up for the MH, out of "doubles" etc that i have kicking around, the usual tool supplier at the shows (motorhome/landrover) has enough to make a kit out of, would probably do you a deal, and you will be able to "feel" whether you like them or not.:thumb:

I have a voluminous tool locker with everything from a temperature controlled soldering iron to a tree-felling axe to a leather faced mallet.

What I find myself using, 90% of the time, is a cheap all-in-one DIY tool set, spanners and screwdrivers, that one of the kids was given as a Christmas present.

It's interesting that the 17/42nds diamond-tipped knurling flange that was essential in your workshop becomes irrelevant when you need to really choose the important tools.

i carry all sorts of hand tools in the van.
for a basic setup you cant beat a decent combi spanner set.

a couple of really high quality adjustable spanners and vice grips (not cheapies as they just tend to slip off and bugger what you are trying to undo )

a decent quality socket set preferably with 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive although a 1/4 inch set can be advantageous.

and lastly a screwdriver set, pliers , and side cutters.

also you could find use for cable ties, gaffa tape and WD40

probably the last things i have listed will be of most use as if it cant be fixed with cable ties and gaffa tape its scrap.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Oh Chris - are you and Pete related? LOL

We go on holiday. Oh look there's a market. I do not want more cheap Tshirts nasty jeans that don't fit nicely round my RRRRs or 53 pairs of knickers that will fall apart first time I wash them, for a fiver. I do not want nasty plastic sandals. I do not want ......

But Pete wants to look at the tools and fishing tackle and then at the marginally more interesting kitchenware stall he will give me a lecture on why stainless steel pans are better and you should always buy eg Sabatier knives. yes. I know this. We already have them. The pans weigh half a ton empty and a whole ton when full of boiling water and eg spaghetti .... and we do have a Sabatier in the van. I may use it soon ...... :ROFLMAO:

Well its always been a maxim of mine "buy cheap buy twice" so I am always looking at the quality of any product I buy before I check out the price. I will admit to being a tool/fishing tackle tart LOL

However i do have an Elora socket set (German make) that is now forty seven years old, and I have only had to replace the 1/2 inch AF socket. Although the tee-bar has an almost 90 degree bend in it but still works fine. So I guess the quality speaks for itself there.

That's the difference between a technician and an engineer.

although you say its handy because it has wheels,i would at a guess say you are adding another 25kg weight to you payload, what i would do is go to b&q and buy a wheeled toolbox and fill it with your existing tools, that way you are only adding about 5kg to your payload, and the wheels on this toolbox don't look as they could stand being wheeled across anything but a nice flat surface.

Brittool socket sets

Brit tool any good chris?

Hi rangitira. I have and still use a hex drive britool socket set that I bought second hand from a retiring machanic in 1954 when I started my apprenticeship. He told me that they had served him well since befor the second would war. Working on heavy commercial trucks over the years, they have stud up to a load of welly. Never brocken a socket, ratchet or extention. They and the socket box look a bit rough now but they never let me down. :thumb:

I will be clearing out all the equivalent tools of equal value and storing them at my tame factory owners place or my mums. The weight increase won't be that great after the end of this month as I will be removing all the spare parts I have been carrying around for the last 2 years due to the build process.

I have a big box of loose tools also which will also go into storage. These weigh 10-15KG on their own and it is a pain to get them down and find a single tool in.

No interest in them but you could always swop the crap tools (if they are) for your good one's::bigsmile: :thumb: expensive box though

Some of the tools will be swapped out straight away of course :thumb:

There were 4 available when I first looked. There were 2 available when I placed my order now 1 after I placed my order. He is clearing these out cheap because they have minor cosmetic damage before he orders the next batch of full priced ones.

He contacted me yesterday to get my mobile number for the carrier. No ruse.
