How many of you took your dogs and cats to Europe last year after the new Defra regulations came into force on January 1st 2012?

Did you notice any reduction in price charged by Vets?

I've compiled a List of recommended Vets, mainly in France but included other European countries, and would like to know which Vet you used last year, their address and how much you were charged.

Any information gathered onto one document will help others Motorhome owners find Vets who are familiar with the Pet Passport scheme and also give a guide to how much they have to pay for the service.

Any helpful information would be much appreciated.

We used the Vet at Rue near Le Crotoy. Because we took our dog and Weekenders dog into the consulting room together, the Vet only charged us the one consultation fee ie 24 Euros.

We had our own worming tablets plus we have used this Vet several times on previous visits. They are very obliging and you can pitch there overnight if arriving late.:thumb:

In March, Northern France 29 euros (suplied own tablet) so no discount there, nice aire / town at Broglie though. Germany in October, Bernkastel Kues 8 euros and the vet supplied the wormer ::bigsmile: Jane

An extract from my post 5/11/12 of my 1st experience of taking a dog to France.

The vet is in Calais, I was told by a French lady walking her dog where to go to. Being France you can park outside!! even though it is just 1 km from Calaid sea-front aire which overlooks harbour and beach.
I just walked in, sat and waited and was attended to without an appointment or even the need to speak, she knew why!
Naturally I recommend them and the details are as follows:

Clinique Veterinaire Le Goeland, 1148 Boulevard du General de Gaulle, 62100 Calais TEL: 03 21 34 77 39

The address will come up on Google earth using the address omitting 62100. It is a bungalow with practise on ground floor.

They are open 0830 to 1900 Monday to Friday with lunch from 1200 to 1400. Saturdays open 0900 to 1200.

Best to arrive an hour or more before closing in case they are busy else simple. Charge was 30 euros.

At port, check-in passed me chip reader to scan the dog and checked details on passport. She issued me with certificate to travel and job done.

All very simple, saw vet Friday, travelled to UK Monday.

Assuming your dog is chipped already, it really is simple.

I was surprised when someone spoke to me in English one day, I asked "how did you know I was English?" I saw you clear up your dog's poo she said, the French don't bother she told me!

bobandjane - thanks for the addresses.

Which French Vet charged you €29 and how much were you charged by the other?

The German Vet charge of €8 is the lowest price I have seen - a bargain.

That Vet was charging €45 back in 2008 - so at least his prices are going the right way - although he isn't the cheapest his prices are now about average for most of Northern France.

Thanks for the info.

Just found the invoice for Izzy's return travel treatment in France this year and it reminded me to post on here.

The vets were at Doudeville in Normandy.
ZA du Champ de course
76560 Doudeville

Cost €34.30

No appointment necessary, we just walked in and they saw her straight away.

In September 2013 we used the vets at:

Cabinet Veterinaire St Michel
6 Rue St Michel
50170 Pontorson.

Cost us 68 Euros for 2 Cocker Spaniels. Vet spoke very good English.

We stayed at Camping Haliotis,Pontorson. Great site within walking distance of town and vets.

We were on the island of Schouwen - Duiveland, Zeeland, Netherlands back in June.

We took our Cairn to the vets on the island:

Diergeneeskundig centrum Zeeland
Zuidwelleweg 4
4326 SG Noordwelle

Tel: (0031) 0111 463 000

We paid 17.25 Euros. 10.00 euros for the consultation and 7.25 Euros for the wormer.

You must make an appointment but I phoned ahead and it was quite painless as both receptionist and the vet spoke extremely good English.

I realise this may not be on the usual route but if anyone finds themselves in the area it may come in useful. It is a lovely place and highly recommended. ::bigsmile:

We have used this vet for the past five years, he is not the cheapest but it was within striking distance of Calais. Please be careful how you compare prices as the weight of the dog determines the worm tablet dosage ( unless of course you provide your own) as you may well imagine our 38Kg mutt needs a lot more tablet than a tiny King Charles.

Now we have more time to get to the port then last year we noted there was a vets five minutes walk from the popular aire at Milleraie with a sticker in the window saying Re-patriation 15 euros
