Question! should I clean snow and ice off the roof or wait till the thaw?

Question! Is it normal for the ecu fan to be noisey?

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
When were out and about and its snowing, we just use a soft brush to brush off the fresh snow.
We have webasto so cant help with the noisy fan bit.

got some fantastic icicles already! just a bit worried about the weight of the snow and ice on roof, then again it might help with extra insulation.

Never had a problem. The heat leakage clears it off quick enough on its own hence the icicles.

As Gromett says, just leave it .Snow. is an insulator and will melt over time !!!
If Rod Hull was here today he would tell you to stay indoors and do nothing !!
Roofs are dangerous enough never mind when there covered in snow!!

Just check that no gas heater vents are being blocked and be careful if you have to open any roof lights!

What's a ECU fan

Mine's a bit noisy at times, especially when first plugged in, never worried about it.

many many years! since I was a kid
snow on the roof insulates, but be aware it will stop airflow through skylights and may lead to leaks when melting. when you drive off, it tends to shed when going round the first bend

as for the fan on your ecu, that should be quiet and only run when drawing power, so heating up the electronics.

If you get an answer to your noisy fan. let me know! Ours started becoming noisy soon after we had the van and at times it's so bad we switch it off at night. So we then have to remember to switch it on again in morning or the battery don't charge...

Aup lads :Eeek:...what is an ecu fan when it's at home ?????? :thumb:

certain electronic chargers and power supply units have fans fitted to cool the electronics. very similar to computer case fans, infact probably they are identical. they should run silently in operation, but the motors seize up making them noisy. sometimes a squirt of wd40 helps, but it would be better replacing the faulty fan
