We've not used our motorhome yet since we bought it just before xmas, today Jane tells me she set up the bed about 16.00hrs to see how easy it was to set up, apparently quite easy and even easier to put away.
All well and good:thumb:
I get home an hour later and want to see this process in action BUT ALL THE LOCKS ARE FROZEN, keys go in but nothing doing (not central locking) Now my question is can i use de-icer in the locks or anything else to help open the doors? It would be a nightmare if we were away and couldn't get inoh:

They should work via the remote control even if the locks are frozen, hold your key in the flame of a candle or simillar then try it in the lock.

no reason why not....the special lock de- icer sprays are only the same stuff you spray on your windsceen.

once unfrozen you could try a little graphite grease, usually comes in little' puffer' bottles and should lubricate the lock barrel and tumblers amd slow down the freezing process.

WD40 spray onto both sides of key and work it in lock, will eventually free itt and WD in lock barrel will assist in preventing freeze up again. (Preferred method for padlocks out on ships deck when I was at sea):thumb:

I've used one of those in the past a few times to good effect, on an old Citroen AX lock. I did read/hear somewhere that you have to be careful that it doesn't blast all the lubrication out of the lock, i.e. spray grease it afterwards. Mind you, if it's frozen solid you probably need to do that anyway.

I can just imagine the emergency services laughing their tits off as your other half tries to explain you weren't kissing the van....
