Good morning,

I dont have one

But last week I was in a Dutch
Motorhome in Germany he had this, Fantastic!

Not only Levels if you need to drain tanks you can overide the auto function and tilt it.

It is a Dutch company might me cheaper to have a holiday in Holland and fit it there.

It is now a factory option on some German Motorhomes.

Not cheap

Goldschmidt Hubstutzen

Hi,

Yesterday I had the Goldschmidt Hydraulic Levellers fitted so too early to give a full evaluation but I would not have fitted them had I not thought they were fantastic. After two vans without them I knew it was a must have for this one! Had the front wheels 5cm off the ground yesterday trying different options! Bit surreal actually. But the stability when they are lowered is an additional factor. Having said that, the rams are fitted almost in line with the chassis (Iveco Daily 6ton chassis) so are not as wide spread as the wheels are. Therefore the stability is limited by the narrower stance. All the same, absolutely stable enough. I think with an Alko chassis the stance would be wider and therefore even more stable say in a hard wind.

Operation is so simple and quick. I think one downside could be that if there was ever a need to climb and exit a pavement you would have to be very careful that as you dropped down off the pavement the rams didn't hit it. Something I considered but decided was such a rare event not to worry about it. If your van is a low one then you can get the drop down rams from Goldschmidt with which this problem would be much less.

I'm a freaky 'leveller' guy so for me, the van has to be perfectly level every time. The hours I've spent levelling the van in the past with those yellow ramps doesn't bear thinking about. Great entertainment for others but not for my blood pressure. Now, the once dreaded moving to empty a tank or fill up with water or just nipping away in the van will be a breeze. Spending so long to get the van level meant I was always reluctant to move again for any reason!

They are expensive but if you won't miss the money, why not? And, you can have them taken off and put on your next van also. Nuff said.

Regards

Jeff

Not quite nuff said Jeff! Mrs ericonabike shares your distaste of slopes [me, I can sleep on a kiddy's slide if need be] but we have yet to decide if this is our 'forever van'. Knowing that you can transfer the system to another van puts a whole new light on it! Could you give us a clue as to initial cost of fitting and the ease/cost of transfer? Much obliged.

They look very good, though I must admit to never bothering much about levelling, as long as things don't slide off the table thats level enough for me.

But maybe not for your fridge.

The weight would bother me. Every kilo counts in a MH.

We like level too LOL

As we sleep crosswise in the overcab, never want the head end to be down for starters. Awful that is.

Dead easy to tell when ours isn't, bathroom door is on the side and if you open the door and it moves either way then it just ain't flat. Can't bear it if it bangs back against the wardrobe door, always worried the doorknob will mark the woodgrain on the MDF.

We have a spirit level kept handy and as soon as we're parked, out it comes, got quite adept at judging how many steps we need to go up each side and whether front or rear by reading the bubbles LOL :roflmto:

Yes we have the E&P sytem fitted on our Concorde. Excellent bit of kit. :thumb:
Good for emptying waste and you dont need a jack to get the wheels off.

Ideally you need a big payload in the first instance to offset the additional weight of the E&P System.

They now have agents in the UK by the way

Hi. The cost for my 'Hubstutzen' from Goldschmidt was €4,700 plus VAT at 19% so £3,927 plus VAT. The price I was quoted in the UK from

Suffolk Leisure
Unit 32, Stonham Barns
Pettaugh Road
Stonham Aspal
Stowmarket
01449 710102 mob 07584 067500

who quoted £5495 inclusive of vat, fitting and delivery. I didn't use them only because I also wanted a gas tank fitted and Goldschmidt would do this at the same time. Also, I guess I did prefer a couple of the slight differences Goldschmidt offered. Less weight and both valves on each ram being on the top rather than the bottom of the body of the ram. I'm a ruminator so every little bit of safety helps don't you know! It did work out cheaper at Goldschmidt of course but factoring in the travel it would be about the same for a customer travelling in the UK. There was €621 net discount in my price also as it is the winter time I think. I do not have any idea what the cost to transfer the equipment to another van would be only that it is possible. They told me they do it for customers here and there. It wouldn't be too difficult to dismantle it all yourself really as it's only nuts and bolts, release hydraulic pipes, dismount the pump, unscrew the controller and there you have it so to speak. The labour cost for fitting I think was €1,100.

The cost for individual customers will vary as per the different type of van. Mainly the weight per jack and the height clearance under the van. I don't think E & P do retractable jacks/rams and these would be necessary for any low level/alko frame I think. I really like the idea of these but I needed pretty hefty ones so went for the 'Pro' category. Actually, they just stuck on what was necessary and wondered around like an idiot but I like to kid myself I was involved in the process!! I'm a big fan of using specialist for special things. This is all they do, that and air suspension, gas tanks, wheel spacers, springs, etc. Ok, not all they do but you get the picture. A team of guys just poured over the van and got both jobs done in less than two days. It would have taken less but the original tank was too big so we had a slight delay waiting for a smaller one to be delivered.

They weigh a bit, between 50 and 60 Kilo's but Goldschmidt have worked to keep the weight down now using alu where possible. Personally I don't care about the additional weight as long as I'm legal. I'd rather dump something else (did someone shout 'girlfriend'??) to have these jacks onboard as they mean stress free stops. Last night we stopped at a Tankstelle (motorway services), happened upon five parking spaces in their own little place but on a decent slope. We parked there, stopped, got out, pressed the button, stood back, marvelled at the technology and poured a beer. If my head is in anyway lower than my feet I feel it. I know, I too used to put the pillows at the other end and sleep there but then the shower wouldn't drain correctly and it went on and on.

It's a luxury item for sure but one gaining more popularity. We will I'm sure see more and more of them over the next years. I wanted to replace the Oyster Caro Digital to the more useful (for us Brits abroad) Oyster Digital 85 but I'll wait now due to the Jacks being fitted. A happy compromise.

Our payload is 1655kg - so can afford the weight of the E&P system without compromising carrying everything else and the kitchen sink :ROFLMAO:
