We are at the campsite Parque Autocaranas Albufeira near Guia in Portugal. It was recommended by a fellow funster and we are glad he did although we’re just about to leave. So I thought I would just say a few words about the site and the owner and hope fellow funsters will call.
The site is owned and run by Pedro and Sandra....two smashing people...Pedro never stops smiling and laughing..and nothing seems too much trouble to him. It is a small friendly campsite that takes about 15 motorhomes. There’s a swimming pool, games and tv lounge, plenty of seating in different areas of the grounds, there are also apartments available at the property. Hot shower, toilet and laundry available.
A dump point for grey water and cassette disposal point, water taps all over the site and electric lighting.
16 amp Electric points and Wifi....all these are included in the price of 7,50 euros in Winter and 10 euros during the Summer. The site is a little gem.

And only 33km from Portimao if you are touring that area.

An added bonus is that there is an Iceland shop 4kms away (2.5 miles)from the campsite,
And for you Young at heart or was it old Fa***:winky::winky:,,,behind Iceland is Cliff Richard’s vineyard!! Where they do tours tasting and a shop:Doh:

It sounds & looks to be a great site & possibly one for winter 2013. I have heard they don't allow dogs, is that right?

That's great....I am 7.5 and ok...and there is a Hobby tag in and that is ok...anything longer than say 8 meters may have to shuffle or intrude on other motorhomes. there are a few spots near the road these can suffer from some road noise..
Do not go on first sight appearance as you enter..we came for 1 to four nights but are stopping longer... many other's have done the same, stopped for longer than expected...you are close to Albufeira if you have a scooter or a car ..settle then get the deck chairs out in the sun....and it seems very homely..have a good look around it gets better..
The owner invited us all up to his family new years eve party...food and drink and music, it was very nice and very kind of Pedro...with a lovely warm friendly family and friends who most of them spoke very good English...also some Spanish motorhomers played there brass instruments to. entertain...:thumb:

Also Is it 7.50 a night per unit or person

Stu, we are sitting next to Mell and have been here since 22nd Dec. The road is busy, but they give you a wide berth as we ride a scooter up and down the road most days without problem. The site s nice and friendly and lots of room. For the price all on its prefect. Happy New Year to you and yours.

Stu the road is quite busy....would you be able to cycle on...Mmmm it depends how good a cyclist you are ...two have just cycled in the camp to look it over .if you are a bit unsteady or unsure on a bike then the road may be to busy for you...the 7.50 is...all in...the price just states motorhome pets allowed........
The Automatic washer is not...laundry 8kg winter 5 euros....summer 7.50 euros.
This what is what is on Pedro's list included services for winter 7.50 euros. per night

Toilet with cold shower.
Football pitch with astroturf during the day...(pay 25 euros at night to hire the pitch)
Swimming pool

Function games room
Mains hook up electrical (16amp)
Unlimited water
Waste water and cassette
Barbeque
Shaded piches when hot
Free wifi

Bob there is a Brit motorhome left in storage at the right hand side of the barn were you enter through the gates... as the site is not that big only takes about 15 vans...I an sure Pedro would find you a place just to put your smart trailer that would not be far from you...you could ask Fernando to ask Pedro.
...Pedro will show you around when you are parked...he may come down to you on a battery small quad

Just packing camper and on our way. :) This sounds lovely

This winter gas been a disaster up to now, not been away since September. Had planned on Portugal but Daughter in law has been badley and their car has been off the road so no other transport than our MH for hospital visits etc

She is better now and car is back on road so mebbe still time to head for sunnier climes.

As it will be the first time we have ventured to Portugal this site seems perfect.

Do you have to book or are there usually places available.

Hi

We've been here since 2nd Jan and has still been places available but, with some campers coming and going every day, if you want to be sure, you can phone ahead and speak to Pedro. He speaks English and his number is 00351 289 561 524 website: Broken Link Removed

There are about 15 places here and today only 6 MHs so far. It's a very nice, clean, friendly site. Entrance doesn't look great but when you come on in, it looks much better! Price all in is 7.50€

We live in France and first time for us in Portugal as still pretty new to Motorhoming. We've found the locals very friendly here and weather has been
lovely. Most days have been sunny and mild, although can be a cool breeze with temps dropping considerably at night. Been able to sit out most
days!::bigsmile:

What Anna has said Maggie.. I totally agree with,
A very friendly homely site not big...but big enough...
There is a new layby just after the site entrance, this layby back's onto Pedro's football pitch on the campsite....you could pull in there and walk in and have a look make sure there is a place for you...and the pitch suits you...and see if you are going to like campsite...you must go up to the villa. (there are 7 apartments up there)..There is a… games,TV, social room...swimming pools ..A toilet and shower...also a nice area to sit or walk around just above to the rear of the TV room with good views..

We booked for 4 nights and stayed for 13.....and all the time we stayed at the campsite it was only half full...or… half empty..
Most motorhomers that do come in... Say we are only stopping one night ...BUT end up stopping longer:thumb: it grows on you::bigsmile:

Also just about 2km away from the campsite is a new filling station that sells LPG...GPL ..auto gas… for those that have re-fillable gas bottles or inboard tanks....the price for the LPG was 0.83c per ltr at the time of our purchase

Coordination’s for the LPG station……LPG pump is where the green arrow points
N37.09535 W8.304507

If you put these Coordination’s into Google maps, you will see Pedro site, pools and the football pitch, also the layby…the layby now is a proper landscaped tarmac parking area with waste bins..not a dirt parking area like on Google earth.
N37.108028 W8.307091

The Camping area is at the opposite end to the football pitch
This is the cords for the camping area….it now has white stones laid on the ground.
