What a night:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: - woken up when dish came away from roof - fell on roof and held there by cable on edge near front end OMG.:Eeek::cry::cry:
Dark so cant see, its p***ing down, its cold, its nearly xmas, its its its.......
Col went up as soon as it got light and whole thing has pulled away from roof.
Only 4 screws holding it!!:whatthe::whatthe:
Stood it up - crossed fingers and pressed button to put it down - bless it obliged LOL
Now screwed back down - mastic sealed.
Note to self:
put more screws in
put it down at night and when not here and in high winds (which we probably should have been doing)
Should know better.:Doh::Doh:

This all providing it still works when we brave enough to try it later when wind drops.

Could be a dvd xmas
Cheers Jaen x

We've always wondered how strong the wind would have to be to do that! How strong was it? :Smile:

We had a similar situation, except that we were in France and watching TV at the time! It was pouring with rain, and blowing a gale when the picture disappeared. We also managed to get the dish to go down, and looked at the damage in the morning. Four screws again, all had pulled out. Problem was that rain had got into the roof and buckled the timber under the rubber roof. Thankfully we were insured by Norwich Union who were brilliant. When we got back to the UK they arranged an inspection, and paid for a complete new roof.:thumb:
We just hope that your roof has not suffered any internal damage, or if it has you have a decent insurer!

Our 66cm dish once survived a 56mph full on wind. Then another MH owner flashed his headlamps at us and we realised we hadn't wound it down when we'd driven away from the campsite. :RollEyes:

our dish has survived the night and is still pointing in the right direction.

mind it is a perforated sky mini dish that is clamped quite firmly to the rear ladder.
it may not look pretty but it works and it cost me zilch.:thumb:

satellite dish

Hi everyone - many thanks for replies.:thumb::thumb:
not sure of wind strength as forecast was not that horrendous.:Doh:
It survived 70 mph winds 5 years ago in Hampshire.:whatthe:
We think winds over the last few months may have loosened the screws and last night finished it off - couldnt have been that strong cuz buckets and hose covered with plastic cover still by side of van - so guess it had loosened.:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
Just got back and yeh yeh yeh yippee it still works:thumb::thumb: - so chuffed - roof looks ok - did not rain for long after it came down - so should be ok as screw holes were tiny. Will keep an eye on it and hopefully not an insurance job.
So at moment no expensive call out over xmas but seriously thinking of another style - believe there is one that is like a dome but dont know what reception is like.
Anyone out there got one or knows anything about them??????

So tele available over xmas - but after looking at schedule think it might be dvd one anyway - lol.
Have great xmas and new year everyone :Smile:::bigsmile::roflmto:

by all accounts domes are more weather resistant and work quite well in the uk and northern europe but don't work as well as a large dish but with the way things are going down in the deep south you wont get a roof mounted dish big enough to get uk channels in spain.
