Am I being silly or have the designers at Elddis failed to try to use a TV on 12 volt with the aerial plugged in to the socket provided for outdoor connection. The two plugs will not go in at the same time ! the 12v plug covers the aerial input. I could plug the aerial straight into the TV but this necessitates bringing the cable in from the sky window thing and leaving it slightly open and in late November in the Highlands it was pretty cold ! Is changing the unit the only choice ?

Hmm. Looks like a silly design but likely to be the socket manufacturer rather than Elddis. It would be worth removing the plate to see if the plug socket can be popped out and swivelled round.

The two connectors appear to be fitted to a backplate, I wonder if they would pop out and could be swapped over or turned sideways.

Hacksaw, but don't. There's no way they would design it so it cannot work, almost certainly some dimwit has assembles the two sockets the wrong way round.

Or, tiny chance, there is a slim plug with rear exit, I can't find one.

No trouble on mine, but the 12v plug is certainly not as bulky as that featured in your photo. I'm sure you could source a suitable alternative for a couple of pounds.

Thanks all for advice, I shall unscrew the plate and see what lies beneath. I may not need a crematorium if this goes wrong, wish me luck !

Why not unscrew the 12V plug and remove the cover from the plug,.

Drill a small hole (of sufficient diameter for the cable to pass), into lower part of the cover to allow the wires to come out of through the cover of the plug instead of the existing cable entry,

Reconnect the wires in through the new hole,

Now you can plug in the 12V plug avoiding the antenna socket.......

5 minute job.... :thumb::thumb:

It does look like some numpty, as suggested, has put the socket components together incorrectly.

On this one the large pin is close to the antenna socket, compared to yours which is the other around.

Pull leisure fuse

Remove the screw covers on the wall socket.

Disconnect cables

Push out connections, swap and reinsert.

Reconnect cables, screw back into wall and replace screw covers.

Pop your fuse back in and you are sorted. Aerial above socket.

with the power off just see if the plug will fit upside down if it will just re-wire it and use it that way up.

They're only one way Andy. One pin is larger than the other.
