Hi

It doesn't affect us but some people are running around the campsite tearing their hair out and wailing loudly because local papers are reporting that the ASTRA 2 satellite is going off air from Dec 16 and from that date - NO UK TV channels will be receivable in most of Spain!

Is this true or just another rumour?

Does anyone have the real gen?

Actually I do like watching the footie in local bars.

Cheers

nowhere near long enough
We are currently down the very south of Spain and getting almost all of the channels on our 12 volt sky box and our Mobilsat dish. We are here for a while so will keep you posted as to just what happens

Does this mean the Oysters will need resetting AGAIN, or will it sort it self out.

I am at El Portus near Cartagena in Murcia Region of Spain.

I have an 85cm Oyster dish.

The frequencies and channels that moved from Astra 1N to Astra 2F on Tuesday the 4th of December were :-

10.964 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (CH5/5USA/5*/Channel 5+1),

10.994 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (ITV 1 Granada HD/ITV 1 Central South West SD/ITV 1 Anglia West SD/ITV 1 Meridian North SD/ITV 1 Yorkshire East SD/ITV 1+1 Yorkshire SD),

11.052 H SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (ITV 1 Central South SD/ITV 1 Central East SD/ITV 1+1 Wales SD/ITV 1+1 Westcountry SD/ITV 1+1 Tyne Tees SD), and

11.126 V SR 22.000 FEC 5/6 (Channel 4 HD/4Seven SD

We have lost all of these channels.

BBC2 is now very shaky. BBC1 - ITV1 (Tyne Tees) - CH4 are all still being received but are forecast to be on the new satellite with the tighter footprint by the end of the year and therefore un-recievable on my dish

On this site those with 1.9m dishes are getting the signals OK. 1.4m dishes are hit and miss according to reports and will be useless in bad weather.

Our dish sorted its self out.

This website is providing good information.

Full Time 2011-2013, now part timers!
Astra 2F

Hi all
We are at Marjal, Guardamar, and have an 85cm Oyster Vision dish with a Sky + HD box. We have a very intermittant signal at the moment, with Sky channels being the best. Luckily we also have TV provided here for BBC1 & ITV.
My question is - is there any adjustment I can do to my Sky box to enable reception of more channels from Astra 2F? Particularly BBC1 & 2, ITV and Channel 4, as we like to record quite a few programmes.
I'd be really grateful for clear instructions if possible, as I'm getting really confused (Paul says nothing new there then!)
Thanks
Maggie

Some people used to change default transponder no on the old sat but not sure wether it would work with new sat 2f but you can get that info on satellite for caravans. the only other thing you turn your lnb very slightly clockwise that might work
