This is our fourth day at the Los Naranjals Campsite in Javea after arriving here on Monday 12th Nov. What a lovely find this site is, the toilets and shower block are spotlessly clean, the site is kept immaculate. The weather has not been the best had rain all day Tuesday and torrential rain in the evening, at least it tested the motorhome for leakage and luckily there is none. Weather brightened for a bit yesterday and today is quite nice, cloudy but dry for now. Will definitely be coming back here. Lovely promenade and seafront with countless restaurants and bars. Our favourite is the Champage Bar/Cocktails, gorgeous food and coffee and cocktails to die for.

Will be heading to France next Monday and make our way over the week back up to Calais. Does anyone know of any English speaking vets within a day or two's drive up the West coast, heading up the N10 so anywhere on that route up past Rouen preferably. Have two that will need to see the vet before their return to UK. Thanks. Gill & Bernie

You're not far from the tram/railway that will take you all the way to Alicante if you wish.

I can recommend the vet at Uzerche, which is on your route. We take both our dogs there and they are thorough and very reasonable. They are closed on Monday's I think but when we needed to visit they opened for us!

What is even better is the excellent aire at Uzerche. It's right by the river, adjoining the very pretty village. Let me know if you want telephone number etc.

Yep been there......:thumb: Not far from you is Scallops.

Try the restaurant Called Scallops......38.771967,0.193202.....it is south/west side of Passatge de l'Eixida del Sol, 03730 Xàbia.... of the Xabia/Javea water front, right on the Quai....follow the quay around pass a small supermarket and a car park keep following the waters edge until you come to the Restaurant, it's about the last one,.. left hand side of the foot path is the water.. right hand side are a couple of restaurants.....YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED .......lots of food you could have but there were two preset price menus one at 7.95 and one 9.95 with different meal's in each of the prices, the meal consisted of a starter, main, and desert ...this also included a bottle of wine each.... either, White, Red, or Rosé...if you did not drink your wine... they would ask which wine you would like to take away with you... free ...when we was there, on the tables was a piece of paper...and it said if you either of the two set menus 7.95 or 9.95 euros you was entitled to a free breakfast between 11.00am and 1.00 pm the next day.....this consisted a large sausage, one hash brown, one fried egg, one large rasher of bacon, and about half a tin of baked beans::bigsmile:......if you had coffee or toast you had to pay for that, as it was not in with the free breakfast,...toast 0.50c.....large white coffee 0.50c.....Lovely..and a wild camp just around the corner

You have just experienced the Gota Fria, literally the Cold Drop. Happens at this time of year as the cold winds from the North hit the warmer Mediterranean climes.

There is an excellent vet in Forges les Eaux just north of Rouen, about 140 miles from Calais. Very nice aire in the town, about 10 minutes walk away. Alternatively, if you are travelling within the 5 day period now allowed I can recommend an excellent vet that we use in Javea Port.

Scallops in Javea

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Scallops is no more, we heard such good things about it too, but unfortunately we will not be able to try their delights. Thanks to everyone who replied to us regarding vets in France, I am sure out of the addresses we now have we are sure to find one, We did print a list off before we came away but it's always best to ask folk who have used someone. We are still enjoying Javea and will return in the New Year.

nowhere near long enough
Us compulsive wanderers enjoyed Javea so much we holed up for ten days and made friends with a lovely Belgium couple.

Hey and we even went into the secondhand shop down at L'Arenal and picked up a lightweight Spanish gas bottle complete with gas for 10 euros, a real deal.
