The wifes little Honda Jazz is insurances is due on the 2nd Dec....

Had the renewal through from SAGA.... And it had gone up a little...

So thought, lets try "Go Compere"..... Types in all the details and up comes a list... Cheapest was the "Post Office" .. £98-89... seemed too cheap so opted for RAC, which we are with with breakdown... and a bit dearer than the Post Office..

Anyway couldn`t do it online so phoned them....and they wanted proof of 8 years No Claims bonus...

So phones SAGA to ask for the proof.. (Been with them for 9 or 10 years)...

Why do you need it ask`s them...
Cos I got a quote for £60 quid less with the RAC...
Could you wait a minuet... Sir...
Comes back....

We can match that Sir...:Sad::Angry:

Why the bloody hell dont they reduce their renewals in the first place... ?

Pay`s to shop around.. :thumb:

I did exactly the same thing with BT - told them I was going to move phone & broadband to Plusnet and they reduced all my costs to match!

I'm afraid that all insurance companies do the same, it seems like a little game you have to play every renewal time just to get the best deal. If you don't play their game you end up out of pocket year on year. They make their money from trusting loyal customers:Sad:

I had been with LV for about 12 years, last year got a hefty renewal proposal phone them up about it and they give us a load old flannel about how prices have gone up, so phoned and shopped around, Safegaurd give me a very good deal with AA cover for half of what LV wanted to charge me, phoned LV, told them not to renew my insurance, when they asked me why, I told them, they said they could match the price I had been quoted, I said why had they sent me a much higher quote, they said computer glitch, so would they have given my money back, I dont think so, robbing bar-stewards, I told them to stick it where the sun don't shine, and now with Safegaurd.

If asked the premium being offered by a new insurance company by your existing company you should knock another £20 off.

It is a big game to them and any loyalty shown by you is a sign of weakness to them.

We do it with Sky tv all the time.

We call up and say we have decided to cancel (no intention really).

They then transfer us to a salesman who usually offers 1/2 price for the full package.

They treat you like mugs, so you need to treat them like mugs:thumb:

So what are your views on perjury ?

If you take an Oath you tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

If you dont take an Oath you cannot commit perjury.

It would be interesting, to compile some stats of members, ie average age blah blah, average no claims blah blah, average mileage etc etc...then approach an insurance company for a discount.

Joshua you don't need to be told from someone within the business, just ring a different ins comp from your current one, I've never failed in reducing the newly quoted premiums on both motorhome or our private cars, you will be pleasantly amazed:thumb::thumb:

I had a renewal come from LV on wifes car, it was a bit LOWER than last years.
So was happy with it but still Did all the comparisons sites..
LV came out as cheapest,,
I rang em up and said I had a cheaper quote, made up a figure £20 less.
Silly buggers dropped the price and matched it...:thumb:

Yep you gotta shop about every year.....

Probably why they could match the price so easily

Just one scam after another. Or clever marketing, you choose.

They can sell the product for a tenner.

So Big Co sells it for £15.

Big Co's offshoot catches the careful spenders by selling for a tenner under a different name.

Giff Gaff is similar. O2 catching the cheaper end of the market with the spin off.

Same with Own Brand supermarket goods.

I saw a piece of Ibuprofen. Plain Ibuprofen, cheap, branded much dearer and "period" ibuprofen a real rip off and all the same chemicals.

There's a lot of money to be saved if we are prepared to put in the effort.

We are treated like mugs and all to often we don't let them down.
