I've hired a van before I commit to buy over the new year, so need to find a suitable site within 50 miles of Cardiff, quiet, tranquil, views would be a bonus that allows pets - any ideas as this is the one and only shot to impress the wife that campervans are the way forward!

Welcome to Fun and good luck with your mission.

How far away is Cardiff from our own, Blessed Leader (may his name be forever praised) Jim's site?

Someone will know...

Also Funster Dylan has a lakeside camp site...

They are both in Wales (but have electricity I believe :winky:)

Why not try Bath ? There is a park and ride bus right outside the Newbridge camp site ,so you can take mrs into Bath shopping ::bigsmile:::bigsmile: when have you got the van for ? if its before christmas Bath has a chrismas market on in the abbey church yard, whatever you do hope you enjoy it .

Hi, you dont say what time of year you are planning to hire the m/home, or what sort of interests you and your good lady are into . It can make or break the holiday if you get either wrong first time, Give us some ideas and I'm sure our welsh contingentecy will respond with great idea's and help.

If you where heading south the new forest and the Isle of Wight is a good bet.

has to be quiet and peaceful as we have a dog that doesnt respond well to fireworks (on hire over new year) so tranquil with great walks and good pub food is a must

Snowflake in hell comes to mind.

If you have to convince them you've already lost.

What chance have you within 50 miles of Cardiff ? Zero.

You have a small chance if you waken up to a sight like this.....

There is Tredegar Park Caravan Club site. I think that is about 10-15 miles from Cardiff. Decent pub with food about 15 minute walk. Very quiet and as per its name - set in a park.

In respect of JJ's post I would think Jims place is around about 70 miles from Cardiff, maybe slightly less.
