Is their a reconised Nod, wave, sign, you give as a motorhome owner as you pass others on the road...?
As a bike rider it's a cool dip of the head, unless your buzzing round the city then its too distracting.. so what is it in the van.....
Oh also while I'am here am I now a motorhome owner, or a motorcaravan owner.??
thanks. Pete.

I would describe it as a cross between a wave/a salute/a thank you.
We find that more American RV drivers wave than the Europeans now.
And Hymer drivers wave at everything:roflmto:

Yes, there are various classifications of Wave in the UK
Standard...................... Driver
Offset.......................... Passenger
Deluxe........................ Driver and Passenger
Super Deluxe.............. Driver and Passenger + Headlight Flash
Super Dooper Deluxe... Driver and Passenger + Headlight Flash + repeated Horn
Smug Git Deluxe........... Passenger wave from van overtaking at mach 10

I prefer to call ours a Motorhome, but we also call it the Van.

Hi Pete

Welcome to the forum

Like you I'm a biker as well and have been for 35 years.

Waving to other Motorhome drivers is appears to be dieing out the more there are on the road. I've noticed in the last few years less and less bikers bother to nod it appears to be the same with Motorhomes.
Mind you I still nod to other bikers and still give a wave to other MHs old habit I suppose.

Just because the other miserable buggers don't want to wave and be sociable:Angry: is absolutely no excuse to stop doing it.
Good manners and a cheery hello, particularly when you're flogging up the road in filthy weather, cost nothing and may even put a smile on somebody's face. :thumb:
I remember last year driving along and coming the other way was a van with Mum, Dad and youngster in the front (don't go there - maybe they had a special securing arrangement) and kiddie and passenger waved like we were the only people they'd seen for a week. Made us smile for, oh at least, a mile or two. So don't be grumpy - give a little wave. ::bigsmile:

Who knows, the guys in the other van may be Funsters. ::bigsmile:

We are also in the Land rover circuit. We have a sticker on our windscreen that says 'wave and be waved at' We believe there are two types of people with Land Rovers, 1. A man with a Land Rover and the other, 2. A Land Rover man and it is this one that always waves, the others we get no response from.

It is difficult for us as we always wave at other motorhomers, even when we are in the pickup without the fifth wheel on, so it must seem strange to the motorhomes that they are being waved at by a pickup.

We wave at all motorhomes, from self builds to top of the range, they all mean the same to us.
