The Hymer doesn't have an oven.

So, at a show, I bought a 700 watt Tristar electric oven which is BRILLIANT.

My Kipor 1000 runs the oven a treat.

My Kipor 650 doesn't.

The float needle (and/or valve) are playing up in the 1000 (runs perfectly but fuel overflows via the overflow tube.)

The float needle (and/or valve) are NOT playing up in the 650.

Research shows a new carb for the 1000 is around £45.

By looking it seems the carb on the 650 is the same.

With my semi-planned Christmas/New Year trip approaching, should I just swop over the carbs for the trip (an easy to do and quick job) and thus have PCC (Pie Cooking Capacity) or...

...should I try to bodge the 1000 float needle or...

...should I throw £45ish at the problem and get a new carb (can't find a seller of float needles and seats only) for 1000 or...

...should I go without Pies for the Festive season?

Is the float leaking - i.e. is it full of petrol or is it the needle/seat causing the problem?

We have heard that Honda parts are interchangeable, may be you can just buy the part you need from them.

If the float is leaking maybe you can Araldite it up.

Usually only one thing causes flooding JJ.......a speck of dirt/grit in the needle valve/seat.
nor often they wear out due to such little use.
a good blast from both ends of the inlet with a high pressure airline, not the tyre inflater type, should clear it once the float and needle are removed...simple job.

the 1000 and 650 carbs will have different size jets in the identical body

Dont do generators JJ so cant help with that. What I can help with though is a Kampa Roastmaster oven and 2 burner hob which I fitted in my garage. Works a treat and came from JC. Its designed for camping and just couple it up to one of your refillable gas bottles.

JJ.... take off the Carb... dismantle and clean out the jets....blow out ..with air line...then re-assemble ....when taking the float chamber off...the sump under the carburetta ... just be careful the the pin inside that holds the float does not drop on the floor ....dismantle over a large clean cloth..most likely a minute piece of dirt.

If you can get to the carb sump bowl easy enough ....then just undo the nut ...drop the the bowl (put some cloth under to catch any float pin that might drop)...clean and re-assemble...leave the card in situe,

They are the most bit of Chinese crap that you will ever find, the needle valve that is, you can blow it scrub it and swear at it but you will not cure it

I spent ages with the same problem and never found a solution except a new carb. for my red Kipor.

BUT

on the yellow Kipor the same problem happened and I made a new needle valve from a pop rivet and to- date it works so much better than the needle that Kipor supplied as original. It leaks if left standing with the fuel on but runs perfect but not a problem as the stop switch turns the fuel off

You have nowt to lose except time and a pop rivet.

Just another thought JJ you can interchange the needle valve and float between the two but to be honest they are so tempremental you may easily finish up with two dead Kipors and the subsequent cold pies

Thanks for the part numbers Mel... but where are the parts suppliers?

KMS want £30 to ship the carb over here...

Will see if a Funster is coming from Blighty... then I could get it sent to them (free) and they could bring it here or to you and then you could bring it down to me... and I would get them/you a small beer... :winky: :ROFLMAO:

Alan!!! I thought JJ did a major repair on your Kipor:winky::winky: kicked it... banged it on the ground about ten times...turned it upside down...swung it around his head...said it was ok now the bill is in the post..... or was that another funster:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:...or was that before you worked on the needle valve:Doh:
