Hi Funsters

leleyjean here stuck in Benidorm with the back box gone on the exhaust.
We have a 2002 swift Kontiki on a Fiat Ducato 2.8 JTD MWB base vehicle.
Went to a garage in Villajoyosa and garage ordered what he thought was the correct exhaust, waited 14 days for it to arrive from the UK and it is the wrong one.
Garage did use the chassis number of vehicle when ordering exhaust.
Now he says that the exhaust has been altered as it has joins and extensions on it.
Can someone with experience of fiat ducato exhausts throw some light on our problem.
Garage is now considering adding extension bits to make it fit.:Eeek:
We should be home now and don't know how long we will have to stay to get problem fixed.
Should I contact Swift?

Any help very much appreciated::bigsmile:
Wish I felt like smiling, but I don't

Thanks for your help

Lesley

Spanish are pretty good at making things fit, suggest you let them weld it up.

Its on an alco chassis and alco modify the exhaust systyem and you would need to get a kit of parts to make a standard one fit

There's every chance the motorhome exhaust will be different to a stock exhaust.

cant see a problem letting them weld bits in/cut bits out to make it fit....being in Spain you aint going to have any warranty comeback anyway

Hey, you know you will have to stay yet another month if they can't make it fit (go and nick the parts they have already) hee hee

We repair a fair few coach built mini - busses, modified vans and motorhomes, supplied exhausts rarely fit,we have to modify them.
Same with hand brake linkage/cables and many other parts.
It can be a nightmare but an exhaust is easily sorted, let them cut and weld or take it to a dedicated exhaust shop

Had the exhaust replaced on my 2004 2.8jtd fiat last month and cost £175. The fit comprised Fiat front pipe (FPCN020Z) Rear Ass - Fiat CNC151. The end of the exhaust (tail pipe) does not stick out from the side of the vehicle so make sure that the garage transfer the tail pipe extension.
My exhaust broke in half whilst travelling through France from Spain. Rather than risk the high cost of french garages I travelled 100 miles to Dunkirk gathering strange looks along the way.
I am sure the spanish garage can do a reasonable temporary repair.
Good luck

Ian
