If by 'timeline', you mean project planning software, I used this one recently and found it very good. It was the only free one I could find for a Mac, but it is a cross-platform application.

Good luck.

Finally settled on one that does the job very well...

Timeline, as suggest by Karl and SandJ .. many thanks

I also tried the one Philip suggested and found it better suited for full blown project planning.. many thanks Philip. I have kept it for future use..

Timeline is a simple program, easy to understand and I was soon at ease with it.. some very nice features..
You can add information and an icon within the event point and it comes into view with 'mouse over' .. but it does lack the ability to add a text box or image on the line that is visible for printing.. not a huge issue but it would have been a nice feature..

To this end I emailed the developer with these two suggestions, he replied and agreed that they would be useful but had no plans at present to add them..

However, there is a workaround, albeit a bit long winded. Export the file as a jpg , open in Gimp or any other paint program, then add text boxes and images.. not ideal .. but it works.

In the best Bluepeter tradition.. one I am working on
