Last winter between beginning JAn and end April we had 3 hours rain. And that was in three separate showers. However it was very cold some nights but warm when in the sun during the day.
The previous winter was in our experience warmer but considerably wetter.
You pays yer money, you takes yer chance ......

3 years ago i entered the algarve from spain . in feb .for 7 weeks never had to turn a tap .just filled up with water caught dripping off the truck. had some nice days but had some evil storms as well.
as said take the chance it can be nice it can be wet n windy.
the rain in spain is usually on portugal. morocco is the only easy place to go for warm dryness .europe in winter isnt good enough really.

Been down here for the last 12 winters and now am here full time.

Yes, there was one, exceptionally poor winter and I know people who think that is the norm... but I have not found it to be true.

In the Algarve it is always warmer than where I am in Central Portugal but it is always warmer here than in Blighty.

And of course, there is much more to enjoy in Portugal than just the weather. :thumb:

Hi
Sun in Jan. is bit of a gamble in Portugal----but to increase your chances, you should aim for the Algarve-----but there is much more to Potugal than the sun.
If you are after some certain sun, do as Alan suggests and go to Morocco:winky:
One thing is for sure ----anywhere down there will be better weather than UK::bigsmile:
