In Tunbridge Wells we have a Sainsbury's flagship store. far side of the town so we do not go as often as we use to. Now they give you £4.50 when SWMBO put £30 of fuel in the car.... SWMBO was on that side of the town and went in a did a shop and the voucher at the end was £6.00 of £40.

Now this happens on a regular basis we have had up to £11 on £60 ... Tesco on our side of the town send often books for weeks ahead of discount vouchers if you spend between £30 and £60 up and down. They started this when ASDA opened a store only 3/4 mile from us.. OK ASDA do not do vouchers... cheaper than Sainsbury's yes.. but now you have Sainsbury's on there branded goods saved SWMBO 75p today ( they claim they were cheaper than Tescos) so we have this weekly battle of who is giving the best discount.

Petrol is 1.369p at Sainsbury's at the flagship store.. the others do not have fuel stations.
But makes for an interesting time seeing who does what.

The nearest Morrisons is in Crowborough some 12miles away .. fuel tens to be a few pence cheaper... but is not until you get down to Eastbourne is the fuel a lot less.

the difference in fuel is as much as they can get away with. all the stores only have a full tanker delivery at a time 44,000 litres so for every penny a litre extra they charge its another £4,400 earnt on a load. ivory55
