Hi, We are thinking of going to southern brittany next year in september, and wondered if anyone can recommend any good aires , places worth visiting ( not large towns or cities ) we like lakes ,beaches, rural places with views, canal's etc. I know it's a bit early to ask, but I like to get a feeling for the area, ( nothing like forward planning). So all thought's or idea's would be gratefully received . Terry:Cool:

Hi Terry. We went to Trinite sur mer in June. Stayed at a site called Camping De La Plage. Right on the beach, good pitches and clean facilities.

I know you didn't ask about sites but this is a good one. it cost about 100€ for the week with EHU.

Guidel. Lovely place and nearby Camping Jardins de Kergal highly recommended. Are also apparently a couple of aires around the town/village but not visited by us.

St Guenole (closest aire to beaches of Point de la Torche), no services

Concarneau (quaint walled town by port) - aire by old railway station

Carnac (seriously impressive rows of ancient megaliths) - aire within walking distance of megalith visitor centre, bike recommended for seeing them all.

Quiberon - there's a quiet free aire near Port Blanc, within walking distance of a sandy beach - not well publicised (Google Maps 47.523613,-3.146361). No services but public loo close by. It's possible to cycle the length of the peninsula from there.

A bit further south, there are five small aires dotted around Le Croisic, the best of which is the one overlooking the marina. A nearby aire has the service point. Worth a couple of days of your time.

Many thank's for info Magicsurfbus ,we might not go as far as your first 2 but def to 3rd and 4th before we head north towards Pontivy, Loudeac,Dinan and Mont St Michel then towards thury harcourt and D day beaches, as to le croisic we stopped at an aire at la turballe a few years back and visited le croisic and piriac sur mer, but we will visit that area again as we pass along the coastline.
Once again many thanks Terry:Cool:
