Mosel campsites (1 Viewer)

We are off to Germany on Friday, Mosel area coming home through Luxembourg about 10 days later, anyone know if it is possible to arrive and camp without booking at campsites in the Mosel area at this time of year,don't like pre planning too much, we may need hookup occasionally as we do not have a solar panel yet, except a small cigar lighter one that is, which probably won't be enough.

We travelled along the Moselle in August and had no difficulties finding places on stellplaz, though we do tend to arrive early in the afternoon. Several of them had electricity though we didn't use it. They weren't as numerous around koblenz, though we perhaps didn't look properly.
There is a great cycle track running alongside the river. Wonderful, if you like that kind of thing.

We have been to the area several times before, but a long while ago, always on motorcycles and staying in "Zimmer Frei", never on campsites or stelleplatz.

From this time last year I recall loads of them. Only slight problem is which side of the river you happen to be on. We were often on the wrong side but we survived.

The Moselle goes through Metz. Great municipal+aire on the banks right in the middle next to swimming baths.

we stayed on stelleplaz at piesporter a few yards from the river, as been said best get there in afternoon just park up and the man comes round to collect your few euros including hook up

Nice big one at Enkirch on the river bank, foot ferry to train station opposite, close to town .. GPS: 49.9841 7.1193

Large one at Trier .. GPS: 49.7400 6.6250
pay at bourne for water.
EHU requires a long lead.
McDonalds and shops close.

There's 'undreds of 'em!!!!

The only way you'll not find somewhere to stop without booking is if you forget to take your motorhome!

As J&S say there loads of them, hard standing or grass, with or without electric (strom), you pay your money & take your pick. Pont au Masson (France) is canny near the centre of town, Graach nr Bernkastel Kues (Germany) is also good, both about 10€ lots of others cheaper, but I wouldn't worry where to go if I was you! Only thing you have to worry about are low flying pensioners on 2 wheels of the pedal/electric variety, strewth is it a bird?, is it a plane nope? Nope just a JJ like Kamibipedian on Prozac!

Can only agree with many others above, you wont have any problems finding places to stop.. Loads of stellplatz along the river BUT as mentioned park up early as you can as they do get busy at times. Many have electric.
The closer you get to Koblenze they get scarse, there are campsites but after a few Euros on the stellplatz it will seem like a fortune to use them..
We only went to one and choked when they told me he price...oh: and no we did not stay..

We will probably keep away from Koblenz, we used to like the area from Zell or Cochem down towards Trier, that area, then we can carry on to Luxembourg.
Anyone know how crazy the Brussels ring road these days, it used to be quite manic on a motorcycle, don't want to lose any more mirrors !!

There are two Stellplatzs at Zell. Our favourite one is by the campsite but there is another one down by the swimming pool. Both are 6 euros. the campsite is 25 euros. Another favourite if ours is Minnheim.
