Recently did/done an Oil and Filter Change on the "shed" and noticed a bit of surface rust on the sump.
Remembered seeing something about it on the Fiat Forum, so checked,:

Doh:It's a common failing with Fiat Ducatto by all accounts, many a sump is renewed because of this problem:Sad:

SO! whats the best solution? Rub down and a spray with an inhibitor? spray with an aluminum Paint? Just an undercoat?
Not interested with a rubberized spray, don't want it to rust away hidden behind a thick coat of gunk

If it were me i would degrease, rub down and use hammerite, i believe they do an engine / exhaust paint.:thumb:

I agree with the last post but...

After you've rubbed it down etc, then give it a coat or two of Isopon 182 zinc, it will last longer...

My sump is weeping. I have a new one that I need to get round to fitting.

I tried a couple of garages and all of them said their parts suppliers don't have any OEM replacements so I had to get a Fiat official part and it was extortionately expensive.

I did a search on ebay and got one at a third of the price...
