We are planning to go to Italy next year:Smile: and SWMBO would like to see the fountain in Geneva:RollEyes:. This is the only place in Switzerland that we would go to so I'm trying to remove the cost of a vignette for one days use.:thumb:

I see from the maps that the border from France/ Switzerland comes very close to Geneva and was wondering if it was possible to leave the MH in France and nip accross the border by another means.

Has anyone done this, if so where from?

I have spotted a large Carrefour supermarket at a place called Gennis near the border, perhaps the van could stay there during our visit.

Any thoughts would be welcomed.:thumb:

There is an aire in Vernier, Geneva.
Look it up on www.campingcar-Info.com

You don't need a vignette if you avoid the motorways.

Ps. There are a couple of lovely campsites on Lake Geneva, in Rolle and Lausanne

When we were going to Annecy last yr the Sat Nav took us into Switzerland.A very pleasant border guard/customs officer asked where we were going and did we intend using motorways -I told him we were heading for Annecy and trying to avoid motorways. He just waved us through and we actually went through Geneva right past the fountain ::bigsmile:
Good luck,
Mike.

Short sighted.

A vignette is a damned cheap toll.

Switzerland is magnificent, much more than a fountain. Geneva is flat and boring.

Pay the toll and feast your eyes.
