I have sky and have been complaining bitterly to them along with a neighbour about poor line speed 200 kbs down load, they give me the usual bull about we are trying to optimise your line and this will take 10 ....... 14 days . Still no better. Inlaws are with Orange and have the same issue. So not sure if changing to BT will help.

It will be the same physical cooper lines to the exchange so changing to BT will not help unless you opt for infinity which (if it is available in your area) uses fibre optic to a cabinet in your proximity thus shortening the copper line length to your home.

I think Bt are putting fibre to the cabinet in fairly fast

As we had similar problems the scroats kept stealing

the cables out of the ground

keep an eye for a second cabinet next to the old one

They put the cabinet in in march April then out to

Households end of July
