Hi all, we will be off to the Highlands soon and since we like to leave the door open when stationary to take in the views we are a bit concerned about the dreaded midges, i thought about fitting the hanging chains but not sure if it would be too heavy (ie fittings), any ideas would be helpful please.

Thanks

I`m a newbie
We just bought a mesh hanging blind for the boat door from Aldi, it is in 4 wide strips and weighted at the bottom(not very heavy).
Cost us £4 I think. Great thing and we have had no problem with Mozzies since we fitted it last week.

The chains are I believe, just over £50 from catering suppliers (well they were when i looked) nand are VERY heavy and require meaty fixings. You might find a piece of net curtain and some velcro suits you better and does a good job.

T make them more effective spray the screen with insect repellant BUT be very careful with strong concentrations of DEET,it can attack some synthetics.

We used a bit of spare material that the wind blockers are made of, extending pole and a couple of coins in the bottom. Nikki made it and even those Scottish midges can't break through :thumb:
