How the heck do you clean a plastic shower screen? (1 Viewer)

Ok, first up I have to confess I'm a dumb-as-they-come bloke.

My dear wife was out with her friends today so i decided to use the time productively and give the MH a spring clean.

All was going well until I came to the clear plastic shower screen. I know that most shower screens are probably smoked plastic, but this one is totally clear, which has it's benefits, but it is impossible to make it crystal clean.

I keep ending up with smudge marks and streaks. Some of the smudge marks seem really hard to remove even with lots of rubbing.

I don't want to have to confess to my good lady that I am a completely hopeless bloke, so please can someone tell me the secret?

Does anyone use the shower ? First job I did was to take my screen off (rattled anyway) and use the shower for storage, always use site showers - I can fit in them !

Ah ha! A man that cleans a shower, what rare jewel indeed!!

For our clear shower cubicle at home, I used to use these "non-scratch" bathroom sponges, they're usually a pale blue/green and then rinse down the screen/door etc and buff up with a lint-free cloth.

However, I saw these foam pads on QVC recently and they are absolutely brilliant. We have hard water and I always found that the shower screen was never free from streaks etc, but these foam pads are brilliant, I am amazed that they even got the difficult stuff off the shower screen. I just use them damp and rinse off and buff dry, but they have two different sides to them, one to clean and the other to remove excess water.

I don't need to use any specialist bathroom/shower cleaners, just these pads from QVC and they work like magic. Apart from some disinfectant down the drain regularly. They're also great for dozens of other cleaning jobs around the house and the mh, we keep a couple in the mh now.

You can buy shower screen spray on cleaner in the supermarket (Morrisons).

Looks like I need to watch QVC and take a trip to Morrison's before she gets back

My appreciation for her has gone way up as she would have had it done in a heartbeat, and it has turned into a major project for me - lol!

Needs to be a very big washing machine to get a shower screen in

Cillit Bang do a good bathroom cleaner that gets off soap/limescale streaks.

Whoever is the last to use the shower, whether at home or in the van sprays it with that everyday shower spray. Seems to keep them free of limescale even with Eastbournes very hard water. The doors at home are transparent and are glass. The van ones are plastic and translucent, the same shower spray does for both.

not a wax . a polish.
also lets the wazter slide off quicker

white vinegar cuts through the soap and grease with ease and then dy and buff up as usual. You can use vinegar to clean allsorts and its cheap as chips

Thats the way to do it, dont let it stick, we use it at home.

Ideas vary on this one. I prefer to use the van shower and only use a site shower if they are very good (and I am 6'4" and 100Kg). Shirley prefers a site shower if there is one, but a lot of CL/CS don't have showers and there are almost never showers on aires, so then not much choice .

power washer or tell the mrs that her sisters shower door always looks nice and clean (then stand well back) standing well back applies to both methods

I didn't use the van shower at all to start with, and then we must have been somewhere where it wasn't convenient to use the onsite one. What a discover. I loved it. Being able to get up, brush your teeth, shower and shave, etc, without having to leave my little palace on wheels is pure bliss

And thanks to the help of everyone here, I should - fingers crossed - be able to make it gleam like it did when we bought it last year.

I bought a plastic curtain for the shower at home.
Washing instructions say to wash it with fabric conditioner.
For the shower interior we use a daily shower spray (Mr Muscle), keeps everything clean and shiny with minimum effort.
