We love Prawns, but could not fancy eating the heads...:thumb:

Them long hairs would get stuck in my throat...

I should imagine the heads and other body parts would make a nice soup.. :thumb:

If you whizz 'em up in a Food Processor for a couple of minutes the resulting Goo can be used in a Bisque, so tasty, people not in the Know, will presume it's Lobster. Restaurants do it all the time:Doh:

Prawns Greek style

I have never ever had the heads off a prawn, only their bodies(especially if they are big ones too!) except! On a holiday in Greece we ate some tiny prawns/shrips called 'Simiako Garidaki' they where fresh out the sea, thrown in the pan with garlic butter and lots of lemon which gave in an amazing zing, they were so small that you dont even notice the heads going in your mouth. They tasted fine and werent extremely crunchy, they were just perfect! Best prawns Ive ever had in my life!

Prawns - stop eating them

I hate to be a killjoy, but we should all really stop eating prawns. The demand in the west is so high that massive over fishing (for prawns) takes place with enormous ocean bottom dragging nets, which wipes out large populations of other sea life.

Eventually if this practice continues not only will there be no prawns, there will be very little other sea life left either.

You can eat 'em, boil 'em up in some Chicken Stock (preferable home made) then Whizz 'em in a liquidiser until smooth, serve with French Toast , and a dollup of Creme Fraiche, maybe a tiny bit of Dill as garnish, whatever turns you on!:thumb:

Some of the more "Quality Folk" Restaurants pass this off as "Lobster Bisque":winky:

Tempura prawns in Tokyo - you get the prawn as normal, but they also deep fry the front bit (without the brains but with all the legs and pincers) and you eat that. Tastes like fishy crisps and really nice. Better than the pickled horse's wotsit I had to eat in another place once.........:Eeek::Eeek:

True, but by the big guys who lay waste to acres of decent agricultural land or mangrove forests, fill it full of salt water and it can never be used to grow anything else again. Also the little guys, who rely on selling prawns for a living find they have to catch even more because the price has been driven down by the big guys and they fish for longer and ruin the ocean bed even more. Most governments try to play these aspects down because of the tax revenue it brings to relatively poor countries, but eventually it will lead to an environmental disaster.

In the meantime here in the west our appetite for prawn increases, its a vicious circle I'm afraid.
