Hello all again, does anyone know where we can get a rollerteam 600 passenger side skirt from and if so how much. Have tried the rollerteam HQ in uk and they're taking forever to get back to us. Not a mark on the motorhome till we put it up on ebay for sale, washed it turned out of the drive and crack knocked down the garden wall, :shout:Anyway so were trying to find out how much they are and where we can get one. Also any tips on European breakdown cover? ie cheapest and best. Rang around for uk breakdown today, RAC the best and cover any size of mh. AA only cover mh's up to 3.500. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thx in advance Gail

Can't remember ;)
Hi Gail if you are in C&CC you want rac arivals or the best by far is ADAC the one to go for :thumb: do a search on here for ADAC plenty of info-only bad thing I have heard so far concerns having to pay up front on French MWs for recovery but you claim it back, it seams you have to do that with most .
If you side skirt is plastic you can get it welded -search plastic bumper repair- or if fibreglass you can DIY repair :thumb: easy to do :thumb:

Sorry to say this, but it could take many months to get hold of a replacement ABS skirt for a specific van, if at all. As mentioned, you could get the damaged one repaired by a bumper specialist, but it may be too thin. The other option is to get a fibreglass one made to match the original. I do know that there is a chap that does this that advertises on EBay. they specialise in motorcycle fairings and bumpers but have branched out into caravan/motorhome shower trays and other parts. It wont be cheap though, as it requires a mould being assembled using your damaged part as a template

And of course you have all read of Jocks demise with ADAC
They will recover anything from and too anywhere,so long as it costs no more than 200 Euro, their max pay out. you pay the rest, :Eeek::Eeek::Eeek:
And over 3.5 ton
you wont get more than the call out paid for never mind recovery to anywhere for 200 Euros:Doh:
He has to throw another 500 E into the pot

Hi Geo I understood he had to pay for the recovery off the French m.w as they only allow there own recovery firms to do this ? are you saying this is different? As I understand it (never having had to use ADAC) they recover you from anywhere except the Fm w which you have to pay for but claim back off ADAC

Based on Jocks post and my interpretation that he later confirmed in that post
Yes thats exactly what im saying, French motorways aside ADAC max pay out is 200E
After a couple of failed attempts to recover Jock inc damaging his tyres with standard recovery equipment
They had to call out the heavy stuff
They knew the max payout wouldn't cover their costs, and asked Jock for another 500E
Pm him for the full details and outcome Ive not heard either

I thought he was going to sort it when they got home :thumb: but I am sure my understanding is right --I also understood itwas the French recovery firm that damaged his van not ADAC -----I may be wrong  so will have to wait for Jocks report.Adac recover above 3.5 ton the only thing I am aware of is a height limit of 10.5 ft ?
edit Where is Bob (slobadoberbob) He is hot up on ADAC

Hi all,

I didn't see this thread, until I got the "heads up" from a fellow Funster. :thumb:

Just to clarify, we were on the Aire at Narbonne Plage, and not on the French Autoroute, where we would have expected to pay for recovery and claim it back.
ADR, ADAC's recovery partner in our breakdown area, sent out one chap, who did everything I did to try and start the MH, but with the same lack of success I had. He then phoned his control centre to request a tow truck, which turned out to be a "spec lift". At this stage, theye were made well aware by me of the 5000Kgs weight, and the 8mtr length.
The spec lift wasn't man enough to do the job, or more likely as Geo pointed out, the hydraulic hoist may have been faulty, as it did lift the front of the MH, but could not maintain the pressure, and slowly lowered itself, thereby wearing 5mm off our new front tyres.
We were then abandoned by the side of a busy road. That's where the €200 limit came into play, and we had only done about 2Km. We then had to wait for several hours for a low loader artic to pick us up, and take us the next 9Km to the Fiat agent in Narbonne. That's where the €500 recovery fee came in, and as far we are aware, we are unable to claim that back, but we won't know for certain, until we submit our claim, along with a written letter reporting the initial actions of the incompetent French recovery firm ADR.
ADR denied damaging our new tyres, but finally conceded when they realised that they weren't going to get their €500 until we got 2 x like for like (Bridgestone Blizzak) new front tyres.

The breakdown was on Wednesday 11th at 10.00hrs. whereupon we finally got to a hotel at 20.00hrs.
Fiat repaired the MH and had us on the road by Thursday 12th at 15.00hrs, and ADR replaced the front tyres at 09.00 on Friday 13th, allowing us to continue our travels towards Denia, albeit the best part of €700 lighter in the back pocket, including other expenses. :Eeek:

As in our previous post on the matter concerning ADAC Breakdown cover, PLEASE BE AWARE.

Yours, but severely skint with it, :winky:

Jock & Rita.
