I am thinking of upgrading to a Bessacar E435 with uprated 2.8 engine. Does anyone have any idea what I might expect by way of mpg-or advice generally before I sign on the dotted line. thanks in anticipation.

Advice for a Newbie

Thank you-that's encouraging as I only get 26mpg with my Autocruise Vista [2 berth] with the 1.9 TDI Boxer engine

Hmmm PJ is doing bloody well..
My Miller with the same lump returns an average 22 mpg at anything over 55.. 21 mpg when towing ( but it is a BIG van and we run pretty darned close to the plated weight of 4.1 tonnes )

Me too ..
I reckon it has a lot to do with the height of our van,,, It really is pretty tall with a large forward overhead.. About as aerodynamic as a block of flats in fact :Eeek:

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.
fuel consumption

We have an Autotrail Arapaho with the 3lt 160 multijet, it has been chipped just been up the M6 and managed (according to the onboard computer) 28.5mpg at a steady 60mph using the cruise control.
That was constant over 100 miles, though would add that there was very little wind, we have had 29mpg being pushed along by the wind and also driving into a good blow it has dropped to 20mpg.

So it`s really down to the conditions and your right foot.
