My £20 B & Q rat trap is still sitting there with no rat in it... had it out now for a couple of weeks... I sat here a few moments ago and watched him... I presume it is a him.... anyway he was climbing up and down the garden pots and even sitting on the head of a Bill & Ben man... he came down nosed the trap.. went round and round it, tried to get the food from the side via the grill.. but will he go in...NO.. so we have tried kit hat.. cat food dry, cat food from a tin.. any ideas?

At this rate it will be buying a air riffle.

Disappointing and depressing innit Bob.

had my traps down a while and still untouched.

tray of poison went a while ago but i don't think one tray will finish it off.

If he is that brave the air rifle has to be the best option. A clear shot, problem solved and a bit of sport:thumb:

Just wait for a passing fox to then cart the body off.

Sorted.

Since 2009 with motorhomes several caravans then tents before that.
if you lived a bit nearer you could borrow our 2 Border terriers.
We back into open farm land and we get the odd rat on the bird table.
The dogs go mental.
Pity any cat, rat, mouse or even pigeon and crow that got stuck in our garden , they hate all of them !

Only thing to decide is .177 or .22.

.177 would be my choice for this job.

Bob

Watch the small print Bob, it states that telescope sight is not included.

Having said that I find it easier to get the little darlings with the open sights and have removed my tele.:thumb:Brian

Thanks, interesting... rat still quartering the trap, even climbed on top.. put his head in the opening, but that is all.. seems a smart Rat...

Bob
as you may be aware Bob, its now illegal to post air weapons.

as for the rat being smart.....more like cautious i think and takes time.

this one meets its maker at 1minute 55 seconds.

Rats have a very sensitive smell and if you have handled the trap, that's why the vermin are not going in it. the best way is to scrub the trap with clear water, no soap then bait it wearing plastic or rubber gloves.

Good idea Chis.. but as the rat lives in my garden I would be sending it to me.

Still about but not going int he trap... starting to look at some very nice air guns.. BSA .. boy they have come along a lot.. and the prices... fancy the elcheapo £50 one. Mind you shame roger (wild man) is not about he has plenty of air guns. Anyone going to Peterborough with one.

and no I am not wearing rubber gloves:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

I have a piece of KitKat tied to the plate with nylon thread....the other one has peanut butter both in the bait hole and on the plate.

this one doesnt appear to have a sweet or savoury tooth though....but it loves haggis :Eeek: (cant get haggis to stay on the hook ).
