I am traveling to Switzerland this year and heard I need this road tax. Looking on the net it ranges from £29 to over £43. Surely a tax is fixed. Can anyone help please?

Current prices for Cars and Vehicles upto 3.5t Gvw valid till 31st Jan 2013

£29.00 in British Pounds

€33.00 in Euros

CHF 40.0 Swiss francs

But I think that your MH is above 3.5 t in weight in which case you will need a HGV one which is valid for a set period of days

I think its about €32 for 10 days :Eeek:

Yup it's CHF40 per annum upto 3.5t. You can buy them at almost all border control points, they usually have a side lane where you can pull in and buy them. Also they are strict about where they are positioned on the window and they are not easy to remove....

You do if you are over 3.5ton, all vehicles over 3.5 ton have to pay an HGV tax for every day they are in Switzerland, even if you are on site.

Always were bandits, paid them a fortune in the past with our transport company.

Must owe them 2 days tax then from 2010, as 3850kg. Dont tell on me will you!

Same as Boris's lot, only difference is scenery is nicer.

i must admit I'd go with the standard vignette at 40 bucks and "assume" that you're OK at +3.5t. As MH's in Suisse are 95% limited to 3.5 most border points will automatically assume you're a standard and slim 3.5.

Is this another example of British obesity :ROFLMAO:

We entered Swiss via one of the small border points near Basel, having followed the
Rhine through Germany. Border post was deserted, and as I had no intention of using motorways, continued on my merry way, around the lakes on through to Geneva then into France ,Cluses and Chamonix-Mont Blanc, after this we followed the national road back into Swiss to Martigny, Sion as far as Brig where we took the Simplon Pass over the top of the Alps and down into the Lakes of Italy.(Beautiful)

Do they not ask for sight of your V5 as proof of GVW when you purhase vignette?
nice to know for next time.

Regards
Steve

Breath in, look slim and it's very unlikely unless your drive a behemoth of an RV. We have driven our caravan through several times a year and always without vignette even though you need one for that as well.

Not as many Aires in Suisse vs France although there are some, not sure how you find them TBH as we've only ever used campsites before.

In the North they are called Stellplätz (pitches) sorry I couldn't be more helpful
