Why oh why do the garage forecourts always display the price of fuel as eg £145.9?
Whats a point 9 for goodness sake its a tenth of a penny who gets paid a tenth of a penny ,who can pay a tenth of a penny?
We all know its to make the price more desirable but you cannot go in and get that precise amount.

Why can't they just round the price up or down, well we know why they wont round them down but what's the point of that?

OK ok I am bored....

Its just because if you're driving past, they hink you will think 1.45.9 is less than 1.46. Which it is of course but probably won't make much difference unless you're filling up an RV in which case it probably saves you several quid::bigsmile:

Exactly. Just the same as many shop prices are £xx.99 instead of round pounds.

I filled our van up 2 weeks ago saving 15 p per ltr and that only saved about a fiver  so point 09 may save 50p if lucky assuming the RV is on empty ::bigsmile:

is it maybe something to do with what the greedy tax man has added by a certain % ???
i guess it more than likely is or how they divide the production + whatever % tax etc and you will probably end up with some stupid figure like 149.87663 so they round it up to .9

Its headline marketing plain and simple, we all know the price is £1.46 but it appears to be cheaper. I think its stupid, can anyone else think of anything they buy that has 1/10th of a pence shown on the price?? (No me neither!!!:winky:)

The shops and garages are trying to make it look as if they're giving us a bargain or a good deal:Doh: It's a type of "retail psychology", so if it's just under the full amount it looks like we're paying less.

However, we're not daft, we all know they're ripping us off:Blush:

Just a case of trying to make it look cheaper, and we all know it is not.

was worse in the good old days they used the guinea .now that was a rip off. and all those pennies to worry about . what with 19/11 or 19/6 so whats changed . i blame the old folk ,they voted for decimalisation and the eu . they try to say they voted for a common market but they are only kidding them selves . these days are the best. forget the good old days . and dont worry about .9 it doesnt matter in the real world .
we cant blame the kids of today .they havent had time to mess it up yet.
