On a recent trip I didn't secure the round sink cover/chopping board before we set of, you've guessed it, the first corner it went flying like a disc through the air and broke clean in two, on enquiring with my local Burstner dealer best part of £100  can anyone sugest a cheaper option please ? (have tried B&Q)

£100 thats a bloomin joke for a lump of tree
i'd try a kitchen supply firm or even a joinery place as they would be able to make you one for about £10 at the most if you still have the old one as a template.

It looks like something similar happened to the sink cover on our Burstner as it had obviously been repaired when we got the van.

Pretty good repair job though as it sstill fits/works OK. It is also made from some form of plastic so it may be worth enquiring about suitable glue.

I try to go around corners slower than usual when in my motorhome... :winky:

...my sink "board" has two slats of wood screwed to the bottom which not only holds the wooden disc together but also fit inside the sink and keep it in place...

We always take ours off to travel. I read somewhere it's dangerous to leave them in cos they could fly off and hit someone. Now I know Burstner want £100 to replace it( joke) I will wrap ours in cotton wool.

Whatever you do, dont break the Burstner telescopic ladder, comes as an accessory for some vehicles. Ladder once fully extended will reach 3.3m.

The dealer gave us 2 of those with the we van, along with 2 Burstner umbrellas and a huge elephant cuddly toy for our daughter. Rather adventurously she named him "Burstner"

Well that`s our 13th year & still loving it.

I would look around for a small local woodworking company, get yourself a beech chopping board our even cheaper find someone that has fitted Beech worktops in their kitchen and has an off cut.
Take to local firm with broken old cover as template and they will cut to shape for you.

If you lived closer to Chester I could do it for whilst we shared a cuppa, not really a big job, their are plenty of option for material you just need to source them.

Hope you get it sorted.

Since 2005 ish
Personally i'd replace it using one of the methods above, or get someone into woodturning to spin you a new-one then i'd keep it in the wardrobe untill on-site.
Don't wish to preach but if you have an accident that thing could become the
frizbee of death!!
Wouldn't wish that to happen to anyone.

cheers nige

Happy again thanks to the good people at Yorkshire Caravans of Bawtry, they found me a Swift plastic cover exactly the same size and colour and £14.95 a good bit cheaper than a Burstner one for £100
